"April (Snow) Showers"
Nature is an artist,
Cross-hatching streamers of snowflakes;
Snowflakes falling from white clouds
Falling on tree branches,
On leaf mulch,
On crocuses,
On houses,
On fences,
On stone walls
On cars.
Nature laughs mischievously at us
For foolishly believing we can begin wearing our Bermuda shorts and sandals so soon,
Anticipating warm days full of anarchical frolicking in sunshine,
On seashores.
Those days are still far off in our future.
But spring snow showers fall without the bitter cold of winter, and
Laces the world with hope that is reflected in the white crystals like small beacons of dancing light.
