On Friday, June 7, April Eberhardt and I will be co-presenting a workshop in Chicago on Pathways to Publication: Choosing the Best Way to Reach Your Readers. We scheduled this on the afternoon before Printers Row Lit Fest. We hope those in the Chicago area or those coming to town for Lit Fest will add to your experience and join us for a workshop on how to navigate the maze of options and challenges in the changing world of publishing. We plan to cover: 

• clarifying your goals 
• identifying your options 
• creating a business plan 
• defining your market 
• building your platform 
• raising the bar

Here's a bit about us:

April Eberhardt is a self-described “literary change agent” who founded her own agency to assist and advise authors as they navigate the increasingly complex world of publishing. April works with serious authors who recognize the need for professional support, and the importance of publishing in the highest-quality way, be it traditionally or independently. After 25 years as a corporate strategist and consultant, April Eberhardt joined the literary world as head reader for Zoetrope: All-Story, a literary magazine, followed by five years as an agent with two San Francisco-based literary agencies. She represents clients worldwide, and divides her time between San Francisco, New York and Paris. 

Susan Bearman is an author, editor and marketing communications specialist who conducted a successful Kickstarter campaign in the fall of 2012 to fund the printing and production of her picture book, the Animal Store Alphabet Book. In addition to her own writing, Susan helps authors and small businesses by creating websites and developing their online platforms. She conducts frequent workshops on social media and also does one-on-one and small group training. She has extensive experience writing for business both online and in print, and is a regular contributor to Write It Sideways
