Greetings! I'm new to She Writes, and am hoping that those of you who share my generational outlook- that of a Baby Boomer- will consider contributing to the new ezine that I've launched. BoomUnderground.com was created as a forum for humorous and informative takes on what it was and is like to be a member of "the generation that shook the status quo." The site uses elements from our funkadelic youths as springboards for articles on media, products, and issues that impact our lives today. Although I'm not able to pay for submissions at this point, I believe the site has the potential to garner enough interest to eventually generate some dough, and in the interim it's a great place to get your work seen. So take a look, feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments, and thanks so much!- Julie
Hi, Susan, Forgive me. I'm such a neophyte at this that I accidentally deleted your earlier post. Many, many apologies. But I just read your blog post and it's charming. I'm not sure though, where it might work in BoomUnderground. Perhaps, if expanded, in the Travel section? My approach for the site/magazine is that the pieces included use our earlier years as springboards for something that has to do with today, particularly something that has "take away" value for the reader. So possibly adding on to your remembrance with commentary and info that has to do with travel today, or travel now that the kids are grown, adapting to having a sexy vacation vs one that included every toy in the house?- you get the idea. There are many Baby Boomer sites out there that are primarily spots for nostalgia, and though that will always be the font from which the BoomUnderground content will flow, I very much want this to be a service magazine- just as if it were in print. That said, the Moments and R.I.P. sections of BU, as well as the Hitched section are places where purely editorial/reminiscence pieces would be great and welcome. Does any of this make sense to you? I hope so, and please feel free to give me feedback. Thanks again!- J
