A powerful parallel between the re-visioning process in my writing work and revision in my life is that of point of view. When first person imprisons me, I gratefully adopt second person or third person or an omniscient point of view. I break out again and again, can never get enough practice in the art of compassion. And premise, why, sometimes I slough off a premise after many years of believing it. Gradually, my character changes. Ah, the fruit of re-visioning is sweet. I live and write with as much awareness as I can muster. Since skill grows with practice, tomorrow I shall muster more. The real thrill is the peculiar position of the author – I am a character re-visioning the world and my life from inside the story.
