END CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE WITH THE INNOCENCE REVOLUTION
Global event to educate the public and take action against childhood sexual abuse.
10/17/12 -- While recent headlines such as the Jerry Sandusky trial and sentencing have helped raise awareness about child sexual abuse, awareness alone is not enough. Instead, it is time to take action worldwide to end this crime against children.
That worldwide movement kicks off on April 14, 2013, with The Innocence Revolution: A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse. Designed to educate the public and begin the end of the crime of child sexual abuse, The Innocence Revolution: A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse takes place in cities around the world and marks the first time an event like this has been held.
“We are committed to making the discussion of child sexual abuse prevention as basic as teaching your child how to cross the street,” says Jill Starishevsky, Co-Founder of The Innocence Revolution, a prosecutor of child abuse and sex crimes, and author of the child sexual abuse prevention book, “My Body Belongs to Me.”
“Child sexual abuse prevention must be taught at home and reinforced in school – but the first step is to educate adults to properly protect their children. We are taking the issue of child sexual abuse to a new level.”
Events linked to The Innocence Revolution: A Global Day to End Child Sexual Abuse vary from one city to the next, and will include walks, concerts, art exhibits, interactive displays, and 5K runs. Volunteers are sought to coordinate activities at both the state and city level.
