Hi Courtney...Oh thx, I am all for encouragement for SHE Writers.  What an Awesome opportunity.  I know all about submissions, knockbacks, no replys...and editing ...or tweaking.   I have one at POD now ....many ready to be printed...self publishing ...and others still in the closet...WIP....all Non-fiction works.  I was so excited for SHE Writers.....so GREAT.  All I know as a writer is that our words are important...they are meant to be shared and one day we will all have our day in the sun...Best of Luck to You.  I LOVE the Title...I want to know all about that one night....very good. Hello, My name is Nekesa Sepiwe, and I am an addict... to writing.  I have neglected my family and friends, I  have no real social life, unless you count the people on the pages of  my writings.  I probably should go to a 12-step program, but the truth of the matter is that I don't want to stop writing.  It's all I think about from the time I get up to the time I go to bed.  This 'thing' came out of nowhere and just grabbed me about ten years ago when I first visited South Africa; I was just trying to put into word my experience, then five hundred pages later, I accidently wrote a novel called When Rivers Dance Like Promises, then portions of three more. I knew nothing about the literary market, formatting, or literary etiquette when I self published this novel.  I realize now that I need people who know what they're doing to publish the second novel, Black Dianthus Chronicles', so I am very excited to join this arena of women writers.

If I can manage to write a synopsis, then I'll be tossing my first 2000 words in the ring as well.  Don't ask me how I can be 40k words in within a few months and afraid of a little thing like a synopsis.  

 

Synopsis.  In my head it looks like a Cyclops.  See?  The words even look alike.

I'm with you on writing the synopsis. Definitely the hardest thing I've yet to write.

My name is Joanne Huspek and I'm entering my first completed novel, FINDING CADENCE, in the contest. This is truly a work in progress, since I'm in the fifth re-write. Since my children are over 21, let me say that I'm waaaayyy over 18. :-) I have no previous experience in writing (unless you call blogging writing), but I believe in my story, which is basically woman finds out her loving husband is a dirty dog, he dies, leaving her a mess, and she struggles to make a new life for herself.

 

My Real Life job is running a business in Michigan. My Pie in the Sky job would be writing full time.

Hello Kamy and fellow participants,

My name is Susan Ashley Michael and I'm grateful for the opportunity to enter my first completed novel, Crossing the Bridge of Sighs, in the "We Love New Novelists" contest. The story is set in Venice, Italy and the premise was inspired by a short story by Soldati (The Chair at the Florian) that I read when staying in Venice for several weeks. I love to read, write, travel (especially in an amphibian plane) and take pictures. I'm excited to learn more about what other writers are doing and thinking. Thanks so much!

I'm LeeAnna Holt, and I'm going to be entering the first 2,000 words of my novel Hands of Ash. The novel itself is finished, but not all is entered into the computer, so all I've been doing is some heavy revision work. I've been working on it and its predecessors for the past 8 years. I must say that writing fantasy is hard work, well, writing is hard work. I'm only 22, but I have a dream to finish this four book project before I'm 25. The story is nagging at me to scratch the itch, but nothing has satisfied me. Here is to hoping that entering this contest will give me some relief.

I'm actively seeking agent representation for this book and am sending out query letters; have two bites so far from agents who have requested the full manuscript, and Eleanor Jackson is someone I've queried so I was glad to see her in this group.

Hi, I'm Courtney! I'm excited to be here... I'm pretty new here, but I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far. I plan to enter a YA novel I've been working on for roughly 9 months. I'm a writer, photographer, artist, mother of 5... I'm a busy girl! I've had small stuff published, but I dream of having a novel published and figure that with hard work, I can make that happen.

My mouth is gaped wide open! I just heard about this contest, and I'm floored at this spectacular opportunity, Kamy!!! Wow. I only have 5 days to get a synop is shape for this. The entire first draft is done. My ms is in the gentle hands of a few alpha readers at the moment, so I will also work on edits of the first 2,000 words. Count me in! I'm still confused as to what genre the ms fits into, due to the premise.

 

Vinegaroon Moon (still working title) is my 123,000-word YA novel. I'd like to cut the ms down to about 90,000, but will concentrate on that in the 2nd draft. The premise in one sentence: Seventeen year old, Josey Jones, spirals through time to 1867, where she discovers that she's the key to a two hundred year old family mystery. This covers the gist of the novel. The novel refers to a lot of Texas history, and includes some fantasy elements, i.e. time travel. There is no sci-fi element regarding the time travel.

I just entered the contest with my debut novel, Out, Out.

  

It's a combination mystery/love story/interspecies family romance kind of thing. I've self-published it this summer to rave reviews and would love to get it out to a wider readership.
