Hi Deborah!
My forthcoming book and I got a bit of a shout out in The Daily Beast this week. But even cooler was the article itself, "Sex and the Kitchen," which prods at the question of whether sexism really began when women started doing the cooking — as a new book suggests.

The article is here: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-06-25/sex-and-t...

I also link to and talk about it on my blog, themarketreport.net.

Thanks for this wonderful SHE WRITES — loving it!
Michelle

ps: That hyperlink button is a little wonky, yes?
pps: I read you tell someone your age, and let me say, you are looking fantastic, lady!
Congradulations Michelle - on an article that had me thinking and re-thinking:

I always thought that the reason women do most of the cooking goes back to cavewomen times. Men killed the animals because they were stronger. Women then prepared the meals. Also, milk, which comes from a woman, is the most natural form of nourishment and may be the strongest reason they started cooking. They are natural feeders and nurturers. But, change occurs slowly, so in many ways we're living as our very distant ancestors did. Does this give food for thought, or does it sound like a Bubbameiss, (which may sound like a condescending term to some?)

Love this site! Just joined yesterday and think it's a great resource for women writers -- unique yet hauntingly familiar, as in the informal writers group imagined but not yet encountered. My news is my brand, spankin' new e-romance with Sapphire Blue Publishing called The Third Wish, which came out June 1st. A prequel promotional will be available for free download next month and is called The Jinni's Curse. (If you haven't yet surmised; yes, I write about the jinn.)
These two romances are a bit of a departure for me from the thriller genre. So, I'm cross-genre writing. But am prepared with my lipstick and a steel-tipped ballpoint.
Hi Deborah,
My husband and I are so proud of our latest collaboration. We just completed a ghost-writing project of a lifetime, and we're really happy that the father has given us credit for writing the book. It is scheduled to come out around Labor Day, but you can find out more today at www.SecondChanceStory.com. We were really lucky to be part of telling this inspirational story of a father's faith, a mother's strength, and a child's will to live.

Hi there,

I wrote the sketch between the Sesame Street characters which will appear on tonight's PBS concert special, "A Capitol Fourth," at 8pm. (:30 TV promo here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmrzo5yPX6E )

This is my first work to be broadcast (all else has been direct to video). Exciting! (And scary...)

Thanks for reading,
Syndi

Words of Choice, a play that I created and produce, performed live on NY's WBAI Radio 95.5fm last week on the feminist show, Joy of Resistance, hosted by Fran Luck. Very cool to do theater on the radio, especially with a pro-choice element. In addition to the play, there were interviews and taped segments. Would love to get feedback & especially ideas for marketing. It's archived online for now at http://archive.wbai.org/ then go to SEE ALL SHOWS and Joy of Resistance, June 29 2009.
I'm excited to say that my book, Men and Feminism (Seal Press), is hot off the presses and ready to read.

Also on the stands is Guy Trouble, my latest article in Bitch magazine.

Congrats on the launch of She Writes. What a great site.

Happy Reading, Everyone!

"A standalone book app could cost $15,000 to $20,000." How about just a few hundred instead? http://dld.bz/a75x2

I shared a post titled "The Birth of the Diversity Blogs" today.  I wanted to share about the various cultures and peoples of the world and I figured that I should make that the theme of my blog.  :D Enjoy!
