I am working on my plot synopsis for my novel's query letter. I am posting it below and looking for feedback.  Does it make sense? Do you get a feel for what my book is about? Would it make you want to read more. Why or why not?

Looking forward to all comments. Thanks!

My novel tells the story of a youngJewish wife living in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, New York concerned she hasn’t become pregnant.  When her controlling husband refuses to consider fertility testing, and she discovers not only is he a thief, but he had a vasectomy years ago, she divorces him. Her life gets more complicated when she falls for a Catholic police detective, and her parents reveal she was adopted at birth.

Hello,  I'm new to shewrites... thanks for posting your plot synopsis!  I think it sounds riveting... the only comment I have is that you might consider making some of the sentences shorter and punchier, if that makes sense.  At least for me, it's easier to follow that way.  Best of luck!

I'm new too, and thank you for commenting! I also have a longer query, but I don't think I'll post it. At least not yet!

"Thanks Fiona.  A couple of good ideas. I think for my next submission I will have to try and be more assertive about the cover.  And I like the idea of doing a new cover once the contract runs out on my book."

"I agree that the cover ought to offer a bit of advance warning because those two reader groups: sweet romance and erotic romance, are diametrically-opposed!  Did you have any input into the cover?  I'm with 3 publishers and all of…"
