Questions about a new site to help authors direct sell copies of their books
Oops I put this on the blog and then realized it might work better here. Ah the perils of multi-tasking - and of wanting to hurry up and get back to writing. anyway..
Got an email this morning from a very very brand new web start-up that will help authors who have new copies of their books sell them to books stores and I think distributors, supposedly without a middle (wo)man. I took a quick look but not a deep study of the site.
I have been looking for an easy way to do this. But this site looks very new. It seems the only risk is a $36 registration fee. Well, I am still a newspaper reporter at heart - the more information the better - so looking to see if any one else got the email and/or knows anything about http://wubbit.com

My thoughts...the name of the website is not good. Doesn't say anything about what the site is about and, however cute, is forgettable. Also, there is no attempt to describe what this company is going to do to draw in buyers. Spending $35 for a static link on some obscure website is not going to sell books. Better off spending that money in a month's campaign on Facebook or Google. What can I say...I'm not wubbingit. LA Lavid

Thanks so much Linda for your thoughts. I had a lot of questions, including security issues. The site's creator wrote me a long note with good answers but I think I am going to wait it out to see what happens with the site. Being a pioneer - in other areas of my life - may be exciting but it's worn me down! Think I will wait and see and perhaps be a follower this time.
