Hi Rachel,
Love the book concept! I think the word "solitude" should come first, i.e. "Solitude: Dancing in the Temple of the Holy Self."
Love the idea. Not sure about the title. Solitude works better than "Solitary Woman"--sounds like it might be a guide for women who have chosen to stay single. Maybe some play on "A Room of One's Own"?
What about something shorter like "Women Dancing Solo" or "Celebrating Solo Time?"
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I have an alternate title, Celebrating Solitude: A Woman's Guide. I hate to lose the Temple of the Holy Self theme, but maybe I can work it into the book itself.
Yes! I appreciate the straightforward clarity of "Celebrating Solitude: A Woman's Guide" Ease us into the Temple in the course of the book. It can still be your theme.

Also, the idea of celebrating solitude helps differentiate it from loneliness and helps me see it as potentially valuable, which makes me want to read the book. My book-in-progress is partially about finding solitude and renewal in nature, so I am very interested in your topic.
Celebrating Solitude will have a wider appeal, I think. It puts the notion of solitude in a positive, life-affirming light.
I agree: Celebrating Solitude is very inviting and has a lovely alliteration to it. I think "A Woman's Guide" is a bit flat. I like Dancing in the Temple of the Holy Self-- but the book would need to be lyrical and mystical to support it.
I agree a shorter title would be better...
I have co-written a novel. It's satire "mommy-lit," in the same vein as "The Nanny Diaries" but told from the mother's perspective (basically, busy mom employs nanny from hell, hilarity and chaos ensues). We thought "The Mommy Diaries" might work (in reference to "The Nanny Diaries") but that book is almost 8 years old so I'm afraid the reference is stale. Plus, it feels like of non-fictiony to me. Other ideas... "Raised by Wolves," "Feral Children," "Has Anyone Seen My Kids?" My co-author doesn't like these because they are too 'out there' but I do think that because the book is satire we need something that's attention-getting and funny. Would love your thoughts. Thank you!!
Of your three suggestions, I like "Has Anyone Seen my Kids?" best. It's a phrase we can all relate to.
I agree with Mary- 'Has Anyone Seen My Kids.' I don't like the Mommy Diaries- makes me think it'll be a parenting how-to, not satire. Ferel Children made me laugh, but I thought it might be too over the top. I'd also suggest perhaps something that plays off those times when kids are too quiet and you're suddenly suspicious?
Has Anyone Seen My Kidsis perfect for satire. Reminds me of the universal nightmare of leaving the baby on the subway.
