Looks like we were all pretty quiet on the boards over the weekend.  Hopefully everyone got some writing in.  Kudos to all who did.  Hugs to those who tried or wanted to, but didn't quite meet their goals.

I made my goals for the weekend!  3k on Fri, 4k on Sat and 4k on Sun.  Somehow I did this despite the head cold, running around all day Saturday with scheduled stuff for the kids and errands, and then on Sunday with being unable to get myself going, not writing one word, before early evening.  Added 11,694 words for total of 36,800 overall.

Continuing on with my normal 2k goal today.

Didn't make 2k on Monday, but did get in 1594 words.

I'm hoping to write 300 words about my retirement today. Hope it can be part of a blog (once I get a blog spot!)

Was away last week and though I didn't get a chance to write much, I did make many written and mental notes on my travels to D.C. and N.Y.

Today I hope to write this week's blog post and get some work done on my short stories... if I can get back in the swing of things!

I didn't have an actual goal, just to write anything would have been good enough for me after 3 days of zilch. Which makes me super happy to have managed 2k. I feel back in the game.

I was able to meet the goals I set for myself on Monday.  Didn't get to work too much on my short stories but did some.

Made it to 50,000 thanks to my friendly nemesis, Livia, one of the Chicago NaNo liaisons who has egged me on at our coffee shop write-ins. You can find out how I rewarded myself for sticking to my commitment at my blog at www.paulettelivers.blogspot.com

Congrats, Paulette!  You're the first person I've heard of finishing this year.  Are you continuing on or done for now?

"Thank you all so much for the advice. TD, I like the idea of skipping to the end. I'm going to give that a try. And Linda. Seems smart to walk away. Thank you all. I feel a bit more encouraged.  "

What to do when you don't like your book cover

I recently had my first novel published and must admit that while there isn't anything artistically wrong with the cover I just don't feel like it properly sells the story.  The cover is for an contemporary erotic romance but it looks more like a…See More

"I find that at about 30k words, it's good to step away for awhile. At this point I usually skip to the end and flesh that out. Then when you come back to your story, you have a better idea of where you're going and how to get there."
