I bought 9 copies of This Is Not How I Thought It Would Be: Remodeling Motherhood to Get the Lives We Want Today by Kristin Maschka. (Penguin, 2009)... it is such an important piece of writing for mothers, I wanted to give a copy to my friends and sisters-in-law!
I downloaded the Audible version of "The Wordy Shipmates" by Sarah Vowell. I just finished her "Partly Cloudy Patriots" so I'm looking forward to the new work. Sarah belongs on anyone's "Best" list.
(Since I don't have a physical book, this little graphic will have to substitute for my photo.)
I also downloaded the Kindle version of "A Case For God" by Karen Armstrong. I've been hearing a lot about her work and she sounds like the kind of thinker I enjoy. I'm always looking for idea-people who can challenge my blithe godlessness.
I bought Susan Tepper's wonderful collection of short fiction, Deer & Other Stories, just published by Wilderness House Press. It's a very good collection from a skilled writer. As a matter of fact, I liked it so much I just published a review of it on my blog, http://www.treeriesener.blogspot.com. I hope a lot of people here will read the review and buy the book. While you're there, become a follower of my blog. There's a link in the right-hand column. Although my last collection of poetry, Inscapes (Finishing Line Press) was published in 2008 and Angel Poison (Pudding House Publications) in 2007, I'd appreciate it if anyone wants to buy them. Just zing me an e-mail at tree@treeriesener.com for some sample poems and we can arrange a purchase. It's ten dollars and free shipping if you order form me (and then I make a couple of bucks). You can also get Inscapes from Amazon and AP from the publisher. Hope it was all right to be a little commercial here--thought that was what it was all about!
I shared a post titled "The Birth of the Diversity Blogs" today. I wanted to share about the various cultures and peoples of the world and I figured that I should make that the theme of my blog. :D Enjoy!
