Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri and The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery.
Renate -- trying to get this right! I think the most powerful thing is to post to the discussion forum, and to your blog. So grateful for everyone's participation today. We are going to make a difference here.

I want to mention the confusion about WHERE our blogs with books were supposed to be posted. I wonder how many members heard about "Forums" to post while others posted their action (as I did) on Blogs, and others, again, didn't know HOW to post their photos... This was a fast action, of course, but next time I wish the instructions were clearer, Kamy, so we'd all be together in one place!
What a great thread--so interesting to hear what everyone is reading. In my blog post I asked for recommendations for book review blogs people feel do right by women, but since I'm not expecting a lot of traffic (it's my first blog post here) I'd be happy if anyone could steer me in a promising direction. My traditional review sources just aren't cutting it. My interest is in literary fiction.

Oh, and I bought Lorri Moore's A GATE AT THE STAIRS.
Thank you for being here! And for being a part of this action. I am so excited about you being a new blogger, and that you are doing it on She Writes.

I bought Nuala O' Faolain's ,Best Love Rosie.

Three of my favourite books by Nuala are, Are You somebody, Almost There and My Dream Of You.

Nuala O' Faolain, was a brilliant Irish writer who sadly died last year. She was a great traveller, a passionate writer and was admired by people from all over the world for her brutal honesty.

I'M SO PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF 'SHE WRITES'!
I had to go mostly used book because I'm POOR, but I bought (at my awesome local independent bookstore, unnamable books in brooklyn):
1. What Moves at the Margin: Selected Nonfiction, Toni Morrison
2. The Collected Writings of Zelda Fitzgerald
3. The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath (*stunning* cover on this Harper Perennial Olive Editions copy)
I bought Lacuna, Barbara Kingsolver, and the Children's book, AS Byatt. So many fabulous books to buy this year. By women, but about the world!
I bought three copies of Gina Barreca's It's Not That I'm Bitter... Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying About... and gave them away to friends because EVERYONE should enjoy the wit and wisdom of Gina!
My Happiness Bears No Relation to Happiness, by Adina Hoffman
The Gate at the Stairs, by Lorrie Moore

Yay!
Hi Kamy! Thanks for the props in your last note--I appreciate it!

I've been so preoccupied with this issue that I wrote a blog (on blogger) & just posted it a minute ago here. Not sure if you have checked the feedback section of the PW page, but I was so infuriated by a few of the posts I felt I had to respond. Check out my post "Women writers must be Lame" below:

http://www.shewrites.com/xn/detail/3506464:BlogPost:61436?xg_source...

and note my "response" to one of the comments (male, of course) at the end of my post.

Thanks again for getting us fired up!
