I'd love to know the answer to this as well! Have you gone back to your novel yet?
I can't seem to fight the urge to read through mine as I'm going, and then I end up deleting huge chunks of my story, convinced they are the stupidest way of writing something ever. How long did you end up waiting?
Mine is still put to one side. I think I'll give it close to 2 mths for a rest period. Funnily enough it's easier than I thought - just doing other things. Plus the fact it's summer helps too. I certainly looked at mine as I was going along. But once I reached the end , then I had to stop. But then everyone works in their own way, so don't be too hard on yourself. Good Luck!
I try to heed the advice I have read countless times....never ever, ever, ever, edit as you write...it kills the passion for you. I have found this to be true for me, but it is so hard not to go back over and over it. Of course you have to go back a little to pick things up, but I try to stay with two pages back only. Hard to do but since I have been doing it that way I have made much better progress. Good luck.
Good advice-I must try to do that more consistently.Thank you.
No, because I will read through the entire novel before I start re-editing as if it was a book I've picked up for the 1st time. Plus i have lots of notes. I'm only talking about 2 months.
