I suppose just because a template looks good, doesn't necessarily means it's user-friendly. Because I'm not quite a web designer yet (I'm working on it), I don't know the ins and outs of creating a custom look for myself.

My biggest thing now is the subscription button. And the way I'll have to add other blogs to my site is to do it manually. I'm can't even see the blogs I've subscribed to on my blog. It must be the template. Very unlike Blogger, which is quite easy.

Yes, I'd say it's definitely your template. I'm not familiar with Beccary's templates but I've noticed that a few other WP bloggers are using it. I'd send her an email.

But I suspect your back end should have some navigation links like the ones in the file I've uploaded.

Also, I'm not a designer -- don't even want to be. Like you, I like user-friendly everything as I don't have much patience. Hopefully, though, between us -- and if any other WP users join in, we can help you out.

Marcia

Girl, you are the bomb!

It's making sense to me now...Thank you again and again!

Great. You're welcome, Tosh.

Glad I could help.

Hi Tosh,

How's it going? Have you figured out how to get your subscribers?

Check out the info about the theme and see if there's any mention of how to add subscribers.

Marcia

Yes, I've gotten a few subscribers too! The only other thing is that I haven't found how visitors can follow the blog. Maybe that's not a WP feature?

Hey Tosh,

Look under Dashboard/Appearances/Widgets to see if there's one for visitors to sign-up. If there isn't, look in your plugins (Dashboard/Plugins) to see if there's a plugin. The beauty -- I know it doesn't feel like that now! -- is that it's highly customizable. So look in plugins, I'm sure there should be something there. Plugins are your best friend!

I'll check in with you later,

Marcia

Hi Marcia, I've been trying to add the She Writes badge to my blog (africa2asia@wordpress.com) but no luck. I've tried to copy and paste the code into the text widget in the sidebar but the picture still doesn't show. Any advice?

Thanks,

Celia.

Hi Celia,

Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the picture. You'll have to change your theme but I'm not sure which one on the free WP site does that.

Sorry, Celia!

Love your blog and that photo is amazing! No wonder people appropriated it. I was in SA last year (Joburg, Cape Town and Durban) -- had a wonderful time!!!

Re photo, you might want to use a photo editor to put your name on it so that if someone uses it, it'll have your name/credit. Unfortunately, most people aren't usually considerate of other's content.

Thanks Marcia, unfortunately I am technologically challenged :) so will have to figure out that photo editor idea.

Glad you enjoyed SA, I am very homesick at the moment!  Did you go for the World Cup?
