Hello Aussie She Writers! What are you all doing? I hope you are writing- put up a comment here and let me know what you are doing. Welcome to new members as well! I'm still writing and finishing up my thesis. The tides have turned for me and after a period of self doubt-I now know that I can finish it! Does your self belief ever get in the way of completing big challenges/projects?

Hey folks!

Long time no chat! Hope you're all doing well and writing away happily. :D Towards the end of last year I took a hiatus from writing, but I'm easing back into the game now. I deleted my poetry blog around the same time, because I became a little nervous about having poor quality writing on the net. I think this year I'll worry less about quantity and more about quality - insofar as I worry at all. After last year, I think I'd prefer to spend a good portion of this year writing for for the fun of it again.

Good luck with another year of writing :D

Hi Jedda,

I don't know of any grants unfortunately. I do follow Women on Writing (WOW) on facebook and they are a great resource for this type of thing. They are US based so that might ne a problem. Worth a try though-good luck!

Hi, I've written a first draft of a YA novel and now i'd like to find a grant to do some additional research and travel for it. I've looked at Australia Council and they seem to have no grants for someone like me - their three categories are: extremely well published authors, once only published and those that have graduated from a course in the last 3 years. Since i'm not published and graduated six years ago i can't apply through that channel. Can anyone PLEASE guide me as to other organisations i can apply to for grants. Many thanks in advance. Jedda

Hi chaps,

What's happening? I have nothing much to tell you all except that I am writing away merrily and doing stats and data which is a good mix for writing.
I have been contributing to Writers Rising as well as my own blog and have submitted a profile of one of my participants to Sharon's Diversity Writers website. The website is launched on January 10. I plan to finish my thesis this year as well as blog and contribute elsewhere. So I'll be busy. I would love to meet some if not all of you this year in person. Hopefully I can jag a conference in Sydney or Brisbane and tee up a coffee. Let me know what you are up to.

Since I write more of the romantic type of novels, looks are important for my characters. I come up with their look various ways. I envision what they should look like, and write their attributes down, or I use pictures of people I clip from magazin…

My cousin, Em, doesn't see it. She sees a plain face, limp hair, fat rolls, etc. But to me she's beautiful, and maybe I'm biased, but she's the most beautiful woman I've ever known or seen. It's because she's the sister I never had, my sister in Chr…
