Hi all,

I posted a little baby boomer humor on my blog. Of course, it's a true story. It's about an unusual use for Cokes. Coke to the rescue http://mickiesherwood.com/blog/2013/04/22/mickie-sherwood-coke-to-the-rescue/.

Come by for a laugh.

Hi There - happy to join this group! My current novel in progress, Under the Pale Moon, is set in post-World War II Monterey, California. It explores the relationship between a married woman frustrated by the constraints of her life, and a combat nurse struggling with PTSD and haunted by the ghosts of war.

I find the post-war period really intriguing, particularly the huge shifts that occurred in our society. Women, both gay and straight, had found so much freedom and responsibility, both in their professional and personal lives, during the war, and very quickly lost those freedoms as our society looked inward again. Women who had managed department stores or built fighter planes were demoted or lost their jobs, WACs and WAAVs came home from overseas to find they were ignored and their efforts in the war quickly forgotten, and any who experienced what was called combat fatigue at the time were told by their doctor (if they dared go) they were hysteric.

As the country turned inward, the nuclear family became the norm and the ideal - and the women who could not or would not live within that framework? Well, it's their story I wish to tell.

And I would love to hear from anyone else who lived through those decades - their experiences and thoughts and dreams. Write me here, or go on the website: www.outoftheshadowsofhistory.com
