I'm trying to publicize the piece I wrote for Guide to Literary Agents.  A few people have suggested I try to get blogs to link to it.  Does anyone have a blog, or know of a blog, that might be interested in linking to this?  Thanks!

I'm being featured on the blog Guide to Literary Agents and seeing what I can do to get it out there.

I've been hearing a lot about the marketplace and it's made me think even more about how differently writers - and others - view the "worth" of their own work. If anyone caught Tina Brown on Charlie Rose the other night she talked about how writers (starting with journalists) can barely make a living right now because they can't get paid (due to changing marketplaces such as online media) and that the same is true of songwriters and so many artists today. "The fact is, we're relegating so many great people to not being able to make a living," she said. "We're in a volatile moment of absolute realignment. There's a kind of volcanic shift that's happening in the landscape, it's all been shaken up. It's a painful transition for writers and artists, at the moment they feel absolutely beached and orphaned. I think we're going to emerge from that, and in fact there's a golden future, and we'll figure out these business models, and actually there's an efflorescence of content and a need for content and really good material to fill these multi-channels. We're talking about great TV shows, excellent writing, wonderful books - it can't be produced unless people are paid..."

I held my breath as I listened to this. As writers, we've always been multi-channelers in part, haven't we? It seems that now we are being faced with new opportunities, new challenges, in how those channels find form, especially if we want to publish and make a living with our words. It's increasingly clear that the face of the earth itself is not the only thing changing these days. Are you experiencing this "volcanic shift" with your work? Is it positive or negative or...?

I just finished listening to your webinar on becoming a writing coach and found it very worthwhile and inspiring. I look forward to create my positioning paper identifying my skills and experience and feel confident that I can communicate my selling points in a compelling way. My only issue is that the one topic I most wanted to learn more about was pricing guidelines and was disappointed that you didn't explore that more in depth. I realize that it should be a webinar topic unto itself, but meanwhile, I'm left hanging. Is there a general model or formula you could offer as a guideline? I'm a successful novelist who wants to work with emerging writers and don't know whether to charge on an hourly basis, by project or in some other way to help them write a rough draft of their first novel. Can you offer any recommendations?

Hi to everyone who was just at the webinar! I noticed a question that I didn't get to answer about my own transition and how I made my way from being an academic political scientist to setting up my business as a leadership coach/consultant. I'd be happy to answer questions about the process I went through.

And it is still a work in progress. If you want, shoot some questions my way. You can check out my website too where you can see how I've retold my story: www.intersectionsresources.net.

More words than probably allowed in this little box would not adequately convey my relief at finding this group! I just found She Writes as well while researching... something .... for some client.... and as usual, landed far, far away - not from my intentions, mind you, but from the limitations of my own at times perplexed mind.

I am a communications manager in the business affairs area of a university and downloaded the seminar on Jan. 25th. Thanks, Shari! Since then I've attended seminars, listened to other webinars online, reserved my domain name and will be teaching at UC San Diego Extension and other places as well as speaking at a writer's conference near Seattle. Didn't know what I was an expert at. But my niche is The Business of Writing--breaking into different writing fields from advertising to publishing to journalism. I don't know anyone else with a broad range of experience at top companies in all of these areas. I've researched more on coaching, have my first client (possibly a second), and will officially launch my business in late spring. Wheww..Even typing that makes me tired. Imagine living it. Warmest regards to all you wonderful women!
