Oy vey! I made the new page and the links are there, but the spacing is all screwy. Laura, can you check it out and see if you can access it to edit? There should be a button at the bottom that says "edit" but it might appear only for me as the network creator, in which case I need to make you an admin.

Self service; someone will need to continue to maintain it, it will just live in a different place on the site. I'm going to put it up now so we can play around with it. I may have to make you a SHE WRITES admin so that you have access to the page for editing purposes...more in a sec after I get it up there.

New blog post is up - Acupuncture and hot flashes - a winning combination! http://www.flashfree.wordpress.com

#1!! Sounds like a win-win, much simpler, and will allow this group to feel like it can grow and grow.

Q: Will this be a self-service page, automated, or something I'll continue to maintain as I am here, just in a different area?

I agree that a dedicated page with a link for the group seems like the simplest option.

Sorry, that sentence you quoted, Laura, was truly ridiculous. I am not getting enough sleep. I was trying to say that I do not want to create (or maintain) a general SHE WRITES blog roll, as I fear that everyone on the site will want their blogs added to it, and as you know in one week we have hit 1200+ members. It would be impossible to keep up. I would rather use the group you created as a way to feature bloggers on the site who are active on SW. By joining the group they are not just advertising their blogs, but sharing information, etc., in precisely the way we want to encourage here. The whole point of SW is both to get and to give.

ANYWAY! Would YOU:

1) Like to have a dedicated page with a link to it from the group page, and have the drop-down link go to the dedicated page, as Diane describes, or...
2) Do the MORE thing (what you described in your summary) and have the drop down link go to the group?

Jeez. I am kind of a fan of option one btw.

Voting again--this time for the list to continue being maintained by Laura so that the list is limited to members of this group. Otherwise, it will become unwieldy.

Question for Kamy:

If we do a dedicated page, would that be a self-service list? Each person could add their own?
Comment by Cynthia Samuels on July 6, 2009 at 9:11am
I don't do this much but would be interested not only in comments on this post but on inserting such a lengthy quote as I did here. If anyone has time - and boy am I glad to be part of this - I'd be grateful for a comment either on my blog or here.

Thanks.

But did it wrong to illustrate that no one's perfect. Again:
