My blog Difficult Degrees is a compilation of essays, journaling, music, poetry, creative nonfiction/memoir and I'd kill to make it all one book....how does this go about?  I've never really heard of this?

So how do you find an agent interested in making your blog a book? Is it just luck?

Hi All, I'm relatively new to the group. I have a quick question about new content in a book based on a blog. I started a parenting humor blog Science of Parenthood December 31 and I've been fortunate enough to land an agent who wants to sell a book based on the blog. We post humor and illustrations daily and of course we expect to create new material specifically for the book. My question is how much new stuff should I offer in the book proposal? 75% new? 50% new? Anyone have any experience with this? Many thanks for any insight!

Welcome Kate and Susie. I've been blogging over a year now and it has been interesting. Never thought of turning my blog in a book, although I was familiar with the concept, until now. Though, still trying to decide on what specifically but the ideas have been planted. I blog at www.totsymae.com and have a few posts about my months in Saudi Arabia, which is where I am currently.

Hi, I am new at SheWrites, I've been blogging for a few years, but my current blog was started one year ago with an idea for a non-fiction book that would encourage women in ministry. Testing subjects and learning my 'voice" has been really valuable through the blog, and the comments constantly remind me that there is an audience for my message.

I've been a blogger for almost 4 years and have been a member here for a long time because I wanted to write a book. I had a difficult time deciding what to write about because my blog, Connect with your Teens through Pop Culture and Technology, didn't have enough evergreen posts to become a book. Yet I knew if I wrote a book it had to be related to my niche so that I could use my platform to sell it. After beginning and throwing out ideas that interested me but weren't good book topics, I finally stumbled upon my book - the benefits of video games.

I just self-published The Gamer Generation: Reaping the Benefits of Video Games last week. I decided to go the self publishing route because the topic is very timely and new if I went traditional, if I was lucky enough to get a contract, it could be 2 years before I got published. And I hated the idea of a book proposal. 

It has only been a week so I have no idea how it will do, but I love having the word author attached to my name, and especially in the niche that I already write about on my blog.

Hi All, I've been on She Writes for a while now, but just joined this group because I want to take the essays I've been writing on my blog, Don't Put Lizards In Your Ears, and produce a collection someone besides my mother would actually pay for and read.
