Comment by Tiffany Lyn on July 31, 2012 at 10:51pm "Portlanders, those are my people." A direct quote from my girlfriend that can never seem to move back home. She's lived everywhere, including Africa. Guess where her other favorite people live? VEGAS! My sweet granola girl! Shut your mouth!
Comment by Nancy Thompson on June 9, 2012 at 4:26pm Hi, I just found this group. How fun to connect with fellow Portlanders. I'm a newbie blogger, just getting my feet wet (pun intended). I'm here to learn and share and I would be very appreciative if anyone wanted to visit my blog and give me feedback.
Thank you!

Real-life quotes about Madonna, and for no particular reason, my interview with Leonard Nimoy.
From Makes Own Kombucha, Age 49: "Madonna? You mean, the singer Madonna?"
From Just Married!, age 25: “She just doesn’t seem all that relevant. I mean, it’s ok to do all that stuff (evocative twirling gesture with hands) when you are in your twenties.”
From Lemon Pasta, aged 38: “I just got MDNA. It’s OK, but I will defend it to the death because it is Madonna.”
On May 7th, the literary magazine PLOP! Review will publish my review of the new anthology Madonna and Me: Women Writers on The Queen of Pop (Soft Skull Press, 2012).

Welcome to Bridgetown Buzz! Feel free to post Portland-related writing events, or share about what you're reading these days. It would also be great to get a Portland area distinguished writers discussion started... stay tuned!
Be well, Melissa
Comment by Ms. Reality Space on January 10, 2012 at 11:26pm Hi Alle,
Thanks for your gracious offer to answer our burning questions!
I am quite new to thinking about publishing. I have written one short memoir about my life with mental illness, and recently submitted a manuscript of poetry. My memoir was not published, but I made it far in the cut -- which made me happy for my first submission. I've just been winging it...
I'm thinking novel next... something along the lines of this post on my blog. If you have a chance to check it out... let me know what you think.
I will definitely get back to you with some questions and check out your blog in more detail.
Thanks again and be well,
Melissa

Listen, I am about to start blogging about publishing for a big media presence here in Seattle. Ink is not on the dotted line, so I'll leave the name out of it.
To drum up some readership, and to get to know you all, I would love to start answering any questions you have about:
- publishing opportunities in Seattle (or nation-wide)
- good places on the Web to publish work (for money, even)
- self-publishing vs. going the industry route;
- agents to submit to;
- promotion ideas,
- good book reviewers to send to and/or bookstores to read at in Seattle
I teach about publishing at Richard Hugo House. Claim to fame: i interviewed Leonard Nimoy.
Leave a question here, or on my blog: http://wp.me/PsSjA-8.
It will be fun to meet you all.

Comment by Alle C. Hall on January 9, 2012 at 2:57pm Just published a review of Ryan Boudinot's new novel, “Blueprints of the Afterlife . (He is reading at Powells on Jan. 23rd).
My review:
http://www.facebook.com/literallyplop
“Blueprints of the Afterlife” runs a gorgeous gamut: complex, blunt, evocative, grimy, and disgusting; full of pain, of hope, of pure bliss. The plot is your straightforward sci-fi fantasy based in post-apocalyptical Seattle. Valued garbage is everywhere. Food is yucky. Joys are few. Anti-heroes must save humanity. Don’t yawn yet. The sheer imagination with which Boudinot’s tale unwinds is stunning.
