Permalink Reply by Patricia Gligor on July 24, 2012 at 7:24am Good topic! For me, the most difficult part of writing a novel is the beginning. Even though I have a chapter-by-chapter outline to use as a basic guideline, I still have trouble starting. "Grab the reader from the first word" we're told. "Get right into the action." "Start with intriguing dialogue." The list goes on and on. And, it's all true. In today's fast food world, readers don't want to wait to be drawn in; writers need to get their attention immediately. Once I get past all that, the writing begins to flow but it's all about getting past all that. :)
