What's more important, plot or character? That's a tough question to answer. A great mystery plot will keep me turning the pages until the end. But delightful, intriguing characters whom I can…Continue

Comment by Syeda Tasmia Tahia on May 5, 2013 at 1:20pm Hello Ladies. Anyone here have a moment (or a few, actually) to spare? I am looking some feedback on the 10th chapter of my YA Silent Voices. It is written from a omniscient third-person narrative, focusing on one or two of the for MCs feelings (or silenced voices) in each chapter
I am slightly worried about the pace of things in my writing...the story takes place between September to March ( around 6 months), but I seem to be bogged down in specific scenes so far. Although I do have a few leaps in the middle, but it still seems to have taken a sluggish pace. Any advice?

Silent Voices: Four extraordinary people, young of blood, kind at heart, strong of will, but rash at actions...living in their own worlds, following isolated paths to their own goals...when the paths cross, the worlds shall crash...into a complex bonds of relationships...Because in a world where wants precede needs, only two can survive happily...

Comment by Zetta Brown on January 30, 2013 at 9:38am Hi y'all! One of our authors, and fellow She Writes member, Kathleen Kaska, has an interview where she talks about her relationship with her characters. It's quite neat, IMO. Do any of you get to feel/think the same way about your characters? Here's the interview:

Comment by Marilyn Bostick on January 2, 2013 at 2:14pm Kathryn, I recommend going to YouTube and searching for Scrivener. It will bring up several tutorials. Watch those then go to the Scrivener website and watch the tutorials there. Download the appropriate User Guide. This will all help you work more efficiently with Scrivener. I even purchased Scrivener for Dummies and all of it is helping me use Scrivener to its fullest potential. Lots of research here but it will pay off. :)
Comment by Kathryn on January 2, 2013 at 10:35am I got the full version of Scrivener for Christmas. I'm excited to use all the features. It's been a help in building characters thus far. I was able to put in a picture and copy/paste some character worksheets and some other tools. I realize, however, that not all of my characters need such an intricate backstory. But as it turns out, even that is a help. And wow...do I have a lot of characters...especially minor ones
