I didn't even remember the contest until I got the call from the editor of Catharsis Journal, a new Memoir publication. She called to let me know that I had come in second, that my article would be published in their first edition, I would get two free copies, $250, a letter of congratulations, an author's contract, and a certificate suggesting my achievement. The subject asked for was Creativity, How It Changed My Life. My Memoir was entitled, Writing, Another Form of Music. Perhaps one of you will write a Memoir for their next contest.

Good Afternoon/Evening

 I'm looking towards opportunities for freelance writing, I don't have any experience in writing other than keeping a journal, writing poetry as a hobby, and "business" writing while I was employed as an Administrative Assistant.

 I was wondering if anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to start and manage this career.

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to SW but love what I've seen so far.  There are so many wonderful groups and the sistership is inspiring. 

I have just launched my freelance career - a long time in the making - and have experience in webcopy, newsletters, and various small bus. marketing.  

I have also just launched my blog www.wrestlingpollyanna.com to help establish a writer's platform. 

I have had a short-story and poem published and a magazine article coming out next month. 

I'd love to get your advice on gigs that are easy (ha!) to obtain to establish your name and gain credibility as a freelancer and what has worked for you.

HELP ME PUBLISH!

Thanks to my friends at Pubslush I have a wonderful opportunity to publish my book and simultaneously, help promote literacy in third world countries. 

To publish my book I need 2000 supporters. A supporter is a person who donates to my book. The minimum donation of $10 buys you a copy of my book, as well as donates a book to the featured charity. 

My book A beautiful Mess is a compilation of comedic personal essays. Think Carrie Bradshaw transplanted in the show Modern Family. While the book is deeply personal, I think it discusses issues many will relate to: divorce, single parenting, racial identity, depression, cancer, and heartache. By reading my book, I hope readers will find a part of their story embedded in mine or at the very least, laugh at my misfortunes. ☺

Sometimes it's hard to figure out where to submit, right? Sometimes it's hard just to keep submitting after wallpapering an office wall with rejection notices. We're not alone. Hello All,
 I'm looking to find software for editing english/writing. Has anyone heard of whitesmoke or stylewriter? What would you suggest for an all-around editing software program?
