Hi Joanne,
It's a matter of just persevering, which you have done. The frustration I can understand, having been down that same path and seeing the formatting change even though I knew I had it right because I bought an instruction manual on HTMLthat was easy to follow since it had a full ebook guide.
If you discover how to sell thousands of copies - without spending every waking moment online touting your books - let the rest of us know: some od prefer to use our time writing :)
Wishing you success
Liz
Comment by Joanne Barney on February 16, 2012 at 5:57pm I've formatted and placed two ebooks for Amazon, Lulu, iBook, Nook. In an effort to market, I have spent the past three days attempting to complete an author page on Authors Den and to upload one of my books on a site called BookRix. In both cases, I have finished much of the editing (the book's format was screwed up), and the form-filling out when not once, but several times I could not post what I had done. Everything I had typed in disappeared. I am not very computer savvy, but I can follow directions. Nowhere on either site was there a Post button or another other indication of what to do next. If this is what marketing is all about, I'll be nuts before I sell a book. Actually, I've sold thirty to my family and friends, but there's a whole world out there I'd like to make contact with. Any one else have this kind of frustration? Help!

Comment by DM yates on January 1, 2012 at 10:19pm I'' be happy to tell anyone about this group. Thanks for the welcome. I am an Indie author with a novel to be e-published soon in this new year. I write in Womens Fiction genre with a seasoning of spiritual/new age/paranormal. I'm also a poet.
Hi Stephanie,
Currently I'm seeking reviews from those who enjoy the genre, but that can be a slow process.
After much research it looks to me that we new authors have to keep our prices as low as possible - $0.99c - $1.99 to get readers to buy our first book. I haven't dropped my prices yet but think I'll have to go with the trend; for the first book anyway if I want to build an audience - and who doesn't?

Comment by Stephanie Haddad on September 22, 2011 at 11:07am Hi Liz,
Marketing is the hardest part for me as well!! I have written a contemporary romance and self-published in various formats. It sold well... to friends and family! But now I have to break out into the real world.
Any tips to share so far?
Stephanie
Hi,
Liz Carmichael here taking the plunge. I have an historical fiction novel out in various formats including print, initially I intended it for the YA market, but it turned out suitable for all ages.
Doing the formatting for each of the formats was a huge learning curve, which, at times, left me wishing I had never started. But I'm not one to give in easily, or maybe I'm just stubborn, so I kept at it until I could claim success.
Now I'm stumbling over marketing the darn thing, which is my least favourite thing to do - I write darn it! My life is spent at a desk with my thoughts revolving around my characters. Oh, well, best get on with it even though this is one time I would love to give in.
Is that intro enough? ;)
