Hi Mommas, still publishing fertility related poetry at The Fertile Source. This week Alana I. Capri takes a look at questions of motherhood, the uncertainty facing a child adopted out vs. abortion as a form of love in her interview: http://www.shewrites.com/profiles/blogs/abbreviated-motherhood

Her prose poem, A Book of LIfe in Ten Parts, can be read here: http://fertilesource.com/?p=774.

Not for the faint of heart, though an important perspective along the spectrum of the experience of motherhood.

SheWriter friends, I am proud to say that I have a book deal! It's in P.W. today, and I can hardly believe it:

Freelance journalist, food writer and coauthor of THE SKI HOUSE COOKBOOK Sarah Pinneo's JULIA'S CHILD, pitched as a contemporary BABY BOOM following the adventures of mompreneur Julia Bailey and her eponymous start-up, tackling our 21st century organic anxieties one babycake at a time, to Denise Roy at Plume, by Mollie Glick at Foundry Literary + Media.

This is a response to Stephanie Baffone's blog post yesterday about the sacredness of children's art.

Today I address why the act of writing is so challenging for kids. I discuss:
- why kids can ace spelling tests but have a spelling train wreck in their essays and papers;
- how to help kids bridge the gap between spelling test and free written work; and
- how to look at their spelling errors to give parents/educators a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses.

Please check it out!

Is there a difference between transition and change? I'm struggling with a boatload of both. Join the conversation at Two Kinds of People.
