Dear Moms, I've been following this thread although I was afraid to comment earlier as I felt intimidated by how established everyone else is - with books published and articles appearing everywhere...but I realised that to be a writer you just have to keep on writing and have conviction in your own ability. I recently submitted a piece of writing for a competition. I would greatly appreciate it if I got your votes (literally by clicking on the 'like' button) on my story. Thanks in advance! It was a rushed job, I'm afraid but seeing it there gave me a sense of accomplishment...http://www.ghotw.com/magazine/article/funny-spa-stories/2010/sep/a-...

What do you think - should just anyone be allowed to parent? Read my new post over at Skirt.com and let me know what you think. "To Hug and To Hold"

How tall are you? Read my latest post ("On being tall") at Moxie Momma to find out what being tall is really all about. Hint: It doesn't involve numbers. http://moxiemomma.com/?p=2176

Reminder for mothers and writers who might be in DC area--Ilie Ruby and I are there this weekend at the Borders Tysons Corner Saturday, Sept 18 at 4 pm. We will be talking about our debut novels and taking our kids and our book tour show on the road, an exposé of the new mother-writer. Should be fascinating and fun!

Hi all, I'm new to She Writes and to this list. I have a 9 month old son who is the light of our lives and am working on my MFA (a low res program) so lots to balance.

I blog on getting kids outdoors at www.aborderlife.com and write about the outdoors, family, faith and women's issues. Looking forward to knowing you all!
