Alas, Beth, I guess I missed my chance to read your comment--the links don't work now. What did you say?

I did read that article last week, and I was disappointed by its tone, and its utter lack of compassion. I don't advocate yelling by any means, but pointing out it happens and then reporting all the experts' reasons why it's bad isn't exactly helpful. Or new.

Hello everyone,
I received another rejection letter this week on my poetry. Publisher did ask for 3 chapters from my book so that had me in good spirits. I have started a new adventure at www.whenwelisten.comkeeping busy while I wait to hear back on my book and more poetry submissions.

I'm just at the beginning of this process and so far have just one rejection. It was on the first query I sent out -- and they did ask for a partial before rejecting. So I should be encouraged, but I am so aware of what a long road is ahead. I recently set a goal to amass 100 rejections, hoping of course that something better happens along the way.

I'm going to give a prompt to your new book Hunger All Inside.
There is some serious beauty here.

From the poem May Day:

"My boy, you're standing in the sun
arms raised like a little messiah
as you expound on the secretest

of secrets: a row of rushed syllables
punctuated by the stomp of your foot.
the cat, splayed below you

in the grass, looks dubious.
You grab a handful of last year's
leaves, hold them before you.

as if to say, This is my body, then tear
them up and throw the pieces
into the warm spring wind, pat

your hands together for a job well done..."
