Welcome, Lorraine! Is your novel set in France?

Comment by Lorraine Swoboda on March 18, 2013 at 7:59am

Hello everyone, from Brittany, France. I'm writing a novel that grew out of a flash fiction (200 word) story: people wanted to know what happened next, and I knew there was a good book to be written. so here I am, in first draft of third version...Love my main characters, and I know where the plot is going. In fact, I'm off to my Scrivener right now.

Bummer. Our house will be finished by then. I'm not sure I'll want to leave it, but my SIL will care for my MIL during that time. The kids are already mad that I'm leaving though!

Lori,

I really wanted to go to Killer Nashville this year but, unfortunately, I can't. (Told you all about that.) Maybe next year?

Now I'll have to check out your series! Are you, or is anyone else, attending Killer Nashville this year? Conference registration was among my Christmas presents.

Small world, huh? I'm a Cincinnati native and that's where my mystery series takes place - so far. (I have other plans for the fourth book.) I lived in Wisconsin and Iowa for awhile but I've back back home for many years.

I love what you said: "I try to remind myself that our time together is limited and that I need to embrace it." My sentiments exactly!

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, Patricia. My 84-year-old MIL lives near us and takes most of my non-kid/non-writing time. My parents, who are in their 80s, are in Florida, so I have to travel when they need me. I try to remind myself that our time together is limited and that I need to embrace it. I see that you live in Cincy. We lived there for six years until 2007. I made wonderful friends there who also happen to be writers. It's such a fantastic arts community.

Lori,

Thanks! I know exactly what you mean about "life" getting in the way of writing and promoting. My mom broke her hip in September and then again in November. Between taking care of her and working on the third novel for my Malone mystery series, I'm swamped and exhausted. It's ironic that life gives us the material to write about but it sometimes takes away our time to do that!

Belated congratulations to you, Patricia! Welcome Karyne! I haven't been on here much lately. I'm 45,000 words into book two of my series. Between birthdays, holidays, illnesses, aging parents and building a new house, it's been tough to remain up-to-date with the social networking scene. But I need this, so I'm going to try to be here more often. Happy writing, all!

Imagine having two mystery novels released in one month. Marja McGraw did it!
