Hooray, hooray. Last year, I got overexcited at the start, so I kind of burnt myself out around 38K words and hit a writer's block. Doh! I managed just under 43K, and the story was more or less…Continue

Well, I was caught up, but I've fallen so far behind in the last few days.  I was on a roll for a while there and now I've plateaued.  I'm starting to get worried. :(

Today I managed 4363 words bringing me up to 31,541 changing my completion date to 12/1.  I'm going to continue to write today see if I can't move back completion date to the 27th.  That may be too optimistic, but now that I've made it past 30k I'm getting very excited about hitting 50k!  Onward ho!

So far today I've managed to add 4770 words to my total giving me 27178.  That pushes my completion date back to Dec 3. I'm going to continue to write all day.  There is a NaNoWriMo group meeting near by from 6-9pm tonight so I'm going.  Looking forward to great conversation, laughs, good company, and turning out more words.  I want to hit that 50k on time!

I feel like I'm in training as a writer when I'm doing NaNo. I keep pushing myself to write more just to see how far I can go.

Well I've finally got back to writing these past two days.  I'm up to 22408 my completion date moved from 12-10 to 12-07.  Hopefully I can still get my words in bfor the end of the month, but I have a new course starting on the 21st.  I don't how much of my time the course will take yet.  I'll just have to do all the writing I can before the 21st.  So far today I've written 2409 words.  Time for me to dig back in.

I need some motivation.  I'm exhausted.  Worked extensively on a short film for my class as well as additional readings and writings.  Haven't been able to write for a few days.  Got hit had last week with pain, fought it all week, and it wants to make a come back.  Thew real problem now is that I want to fall asleep every time I sit down, and I just want to veg.  But I want to keep writing even if I don't make the word count.  Help me get motivated again!  Please!

Took a break from writing last night - tennis elbow acting up. Just going to see if anything comes to me tonight. If not then there's always tomorrow.

I'm just below 18k myself. Not giving up, though. I did that in 2005 and I still kick myself for it every year when I see the missing win button. I'm about to get cracking on today's words. Very small chance of making it to half way point, but I am sure gonna try my best. You know, until my fingers start to ache and my cat demand attention and my short attention span drives me back to my facebook games.

I've only written about 18,000 words so far.  I am so far behind, I honestly don't think I'll be able to finish by the 30th. :(

Unless I really put it in first gear, I won't make 50,000 words but I am writing everyday and that's way more important at this point in the game. I like where the story is going even though it's not following the outline in my head. We'll see where it leads.

Quotes, Memoirs, and Books on Writing I've Read to Avoid...Doing It

Working on my memoir, I've turned to many, many (many many, too many) books with tips on how to get started, organized, and inspired.  I also read a lot of what other authors say about the process and will share quotes here, as well.  I'll begin…See More
