Seems to have been a while since anyone posted here.  Maybe summer nature travel got in the way?  :)

I'm a short story writer and a creative non-fiction writer.  Nature figures as background to most of my work - winter snowstorms, raging spring mountain torrents, lovely Sierra meadows, overhanging strangler figs in the Australian sub tropical rain forest, lyre birds scratching the duff, red bellied black snakes curled across the track, Patagonia in mid-summer..they all figure in my imagination as well as in my writing.

I'm curious about how others use nature successfully in published works...always looking for like minded souls.

Page Lambert and I both have pieces in Sugar Mule's amazingly awesome "Women Writing Nature".  Women Writing Nature is available as a pdf download at:

http://www.sugarmule.com/41.htm.

Don't be daunted by Women Writing Nature's 160 poets and essayists.
Contributor names are in alphabetical order in the Table of Contents (TOC), and the TOC's page numbers are hyperlinked directly to each author's poem or essay.

So...looking for places to submit a new book for nature related writing contests (and actually know nothing about how this works). This is what I found so far- any other ideas? Or tips on how this whole process works? Thanks!

wonderful on all Page, thank you! I will definitely touch base when it's out. And I look forward to reading your book as well!

Yes, Shannon, that would be great.  I write occasional essays/book reviews on my blog "All Things Literary. All Things Natural."  http://pagelambert.blogspot.com/ So make sure you send me a note when North of Hope comes out.  You might enjoy my memoir too, In Search of Kinship: Modern Pioneering on the Western Landscape. It was a Rocky Mountain best-seller when it came out (hardcover 1996, softcover 2001). http://www.pagelambert.com/books.html.  Congratulations again on your contract!

thank you Page- I sent him a message and said you'd told me to connect. I appreciate it; he looks like an amazing man and I look forward to reading his book and hopefully meeting all of you one day!
