Do tell us what you're writing about - i.e. your current work in progress. If you have a finished book and a cover to share, please do that on the "Our Published Novels" thread, even if it isn't a novel! (Please, no jpegs here.)

Permalink Reply by Catrina Barton on March 29, 2012 at 6:11pm I’m new to she writes so here’s an attempt to get to know more fellow writers. I have some great people who love to read my work but when it comes to the struggles of getting published they aren’t any help.
My current book is a contemporary romance, I am actually writing it for the Christian market since well, it apparently wanted to be written that way. In a nutshell it’s a little comedy, some hope, a bunch of romance and an accident prone woman. My book is set in Maine and starts off by a woman in her late twenties buying a bed and breakfast in a very unconventional way. She realizes that her snap decision was apparently a cry for help on her life’s part and now she is stuck in a bit of a disaster miles and miles away from where she started. Lucky for her the local handyman is her hero in more ways than one – aren’t they always?
I write a blog online that although based on my reality as a mom it shows my style of writing and keeps me grounded. I can’t wait to figure out how to balance writing, working and raising kids. I pray I can find some interest in this book – agent, publisher, editor, whomever, like most writers, it is not my first book I have written but I hope it will be the first to be published. http://holycowmoment.blogspot.com/

... sedatives maybe? Okay just kidding. But wouldn’t it be nice if there was a magic answer. I need my crystal ball to work!
Permalink Reply by Lisa W. Rosenberg on March 31, 2012 at 5:43pm Michelle, the premise of your novel sounds adorable! (And I mean that in an I-would-like-to-read-something-like-that way.) Welcome to She Writes and good luck juggling everything; I'm doing the same thing!
:)

Thanks! I hope I can find an agent that thinks this way also. Maybe once I get thinks polished you could be a beta reader? I edit and edit and edit but apparently that is not my cup of tea. I don’t know about you but balancing a family with working and writing, something falls off the wagon and that seems to be writing for me. I hope you have much better luck with balance in your life. :-) I wonder where the time goes...
Permalink Reply by Heather Marsten on March 30, 2012 at 4:36pm I'm working on my memoir called Tell Me What He Did. It is a memoir of incest. Eveery morning after my father sexually abused me, my mom would greet me with, "I heard him in your room last night, tell me what he did." I had to tell her what he did and she took notes. Over the years, she filled two notebooks with records of his abuse. My story is a book on healing and hope. The journey wasn't easy. I thought about killing myself, took a lot of wrong turns, explored the occult and other spiritual paths. I kept looking for someone to help me, but it wasn't until I was able to forgive my parents. I finally found a pastor who helped me piece my past together, find God, and healing. My goal is to help others to realize that healing is possible.
I'm enjoying the writing process and learning as I go.
Praying your day is blessed.
Heather
Permalink Reply by Catrina Barton on March 30, 2012 at 4:50pm I can sympathize. It was a step father, but one I felt was more of a father. it's never an easy journey. Glad you found the strength and courage to forgive them.
Permalink Reply by Heather Marsten on March 31, 2012 at 4:17pm I am so sorry that you had been abused by your stepfather. Abuse hurts worse when it is someone we should be able to trust. It seems you must have also found the strength to forgive. I pray that our stories help others to grow and heal.
Permalink Reply by Catrina Barton on March 31, 2012 at 6:33pm Sadly most sexual abuse is by people the victims' know. It's rare that they don't know their attacker.
I pray our stories will help others heal as well. Your book sounds like one I will definitely read once it's ready. Keep me posted okay?
Permalink Reply by Jessica Vealitzek on March 30, 2012 at 6:28pm I, too, am glad you are healing and have hope. Thank you for writing to help others.
