Do tell us what you're writing about - i.e. your current work in progress. If you have a finished book and a cover to share, please do that on the "Our Published Novels" thread, even if it isn't a novel! (Please, no jpegs here.)

Thanks!

Thank you, Krista. I've been building up my social contacts, replying on blogs, getting my website finished, --putting myself out there "as if" I were already published ("As a man thinketh...")

Are you published yet?

~Carole

That's great!  Anymore there are so many bases to cover I've found that if you focus on a couple of things instead of trying to do them all it's more effective.

Yes, I'm indie published.  I have 2 books out ,Under a Prairie Moon and Family Ties.  It has been an experience to learn marketing.  I have a background in sales and business ownership so it wasn't as much of a culture shock as it could have been.

I'm launching an online author's radio show in late July.  The 22nd.  I'm looking for more guests.  What we will do is have a topic that we can discuss, like building an audience before your launch, and people can call in and ask questions too.  Would you be interested in being a guest?

Krista

Hi Krista, I totally agree! Way too many bases to cover. Pick one or two and give them a shot. If after say two months they aren't improving things, pick a different two.  It's different for each person and we have to find what works best for us and our books.

You're the second person I've talked to so far who is doing a radio show. I think that's a fabulous approach.

:)

Hi, Catrina.  I saw you are also a self pub author.  What's your genre?  And I'm super excited about the radio show.  I already co-host a Sunday talk show at www.atrandomlive.com but this new endeavor will be all about books, writing them, reading them and marketing them.  It will also have a website for readers to connect with writers by way of a searchable data base, newsletters and banners with links to authors and their books.  It should be up and running by mid-July.

Would you be interested in being a guest on the show?  It would be fun to have another indie to talk to.

Hi Krista. I mainly write YA, but the current one is a YA Paranormal Romance Adventure. :)

Sounds exciting!  Lots of elements :p

I will be glad to check out your books, and I'd love to be a guest on the radio show. What kind of topics will you be discussing?

I sent you a message with the info :P

Hello Carole, welcome aboard! We're always delighted to meet a new member. :)

I enjoy quite a few Western Adventures. Ever heard of the Sackett Saga by Louis L'Amour?

Hi Catrina,

Yes, I know of Louis L'Amour but never read him. I am sorry to say I "assumed" he wrote "guy" westerns. (I really don't mean to sound sexist!) Is the Sackett Saga a good read? I love a great recommendation.

What genre do you write? Are you published? I'm so happy to meet so many writers!

~Carole

Hi Carole,

I'm self published yes.

He wrote a lot of fabulous westerns. mostly adventure with romantic elements. The Sackett Saga, is my favorite. I have the entire collection. {mama gave me the two I didn't have.} It's a series about a family who settled the lands during the gold rush. Each kids is grown up in the subsequent books.

I will check it out! On self-publishing, do you mind if I ask if you spend a lot of time marketing your work? Who did you publish with?

"The two rules that I keep in mind as I'm posting to social media are: 1. is this dignified? 2. would it horribly embarrass my teenaged daughter? If the answer to 1. is yes and the answer to 2. is no, then I go ahead. Otherwise, I censor."
