Comment by Marilyn Bostick on November 18, 2011 at 2:14pm So far today I've managed to add 4770 words to my total giving me 27178. That pushes my completion date back to Dec 3. I'm going to continue to write all day. There is a NaNoWriMo group meeting near by from 6-9pm tonight so I'm going. Looking forward to great conversation, laughs, good company, and turning out more words. I want to hit that 50k on time!
Comment by Barbara Ehrentreu on November 18, 2011 at 1:48pm Kathy, Congratulations! How exciting!
Comment by Kate Defrise on November 18, 2011 at 12:58pm Congratulations, Kathy! This is huge!
wanting to add my congratulations to Kathy for her NEA fellowship!
Kathy, Meg and Marilyn, thanks for your words. English is my second language and I use no editor here on SheWrites (well, I do speak English fluently but mistakes occur all the time).
And Meg, yes, that's a great idea. SheWrites changed - so when I got published in English, SheWrites stopped the promotion option. So YES!
And again Kathy, congrats.
Comment by S.L. Bartlett on November 18, 2011 at 10:55am Congratulations, Kathy! Good work.
Comment by Mary Lynne McLintock on November 18, 2011 at 10:54am Meg, I like your idea of weekly news. We'd be so inspired by everyone's accomplishments! Or maybe -- some days -- depressed?? :-)
Comment by Mary Lynne McLintock on November 18, 2011 at 10:51am Bravo, Kathy. Thrilled for you.Love it when talent is recognized as it should be.
Comment by Kathy Leonard Czepiel on November 18, 2011 at 10:28am @Beatriz: Anyone can apply for the NEA grant. They alternate years between poets and prose writers, so the next prose deadline will (I think) be in early 2013. The application process wasn't too onerous. I had to submit a total of maybe 30 manuscript pages--I chose to do that with two stories, one long and one short. The link for more information is here: http://arts.gov/grants/apply/Lit/index.html
Comment by Meg Waite Clayton on November 18, 2011 at 10:27am Seeing all this great news makes me wonder if we should be doing some sort of "Weekly News from the Novelist Group" or something, so that this kind of great news doesn't get lost on the wall scroll. What do you all think? Do you read your inbox here?
I could roll it in with the weekly chat reminder. Would just need to set up a thread for folks to report the news they'd like to share, I think.
