Comment by Jenny Darlington on July 18, 2012 at 12:24pm Hi, Meg! I'm currently taking my first Stay-cation and taking as much time as possible to write (I always seem to come last, mostly my own fault). As far as "where", not very exciting, just on the couch in my nice air conditioned living room (it's been 100 degrees here in NJ).
I'm also taking the time to learn more about the writing craft through sites like She Writes and Writers mags (my fave is Writer's Digest). Yesterday I went through the comments from my Writers Group (such great inspiration!) on the first chapter of the novel I'm working on, and their ideas were amazing, really helping to flesh out my characters. I'm excited to say after finishing this post, I'll be jumping back into that first chapter, and hopefully getting started on the second.
Comment by Meg Waite Clayton on July 18, 2012 at 10:11am For those of you who can't make the chat today, love to hear your thoughts on the wall on what you're doing for your summer vacation: writing or not, and where?
Comment by Melanie Conklin on July 18, 2012 at 7:05am For my fellow Novelists, struggling or not, I'd like to share something I wrote regarding The Great Agent Hunt:
What Agents Really Mean When They Say, "We're not a Match"
http://www.melanieconklin.com/2012/07/what-agents-really-mean-when-...
I know that when you are first querying, you can't get enough info on the process and what you should expect. So I thought I'd share my thoughts so far. It does get better, I promise! :)
Comment by Meg Waite Clayton on July 17, 2012 at 5:38pm Novelist Group chat tomorrow at 1 EST. Topic: How I spent/plan to spend my summer vacation.
Do you take time off from writing, or take your writing with you? Do you like writing in different places, or are you a one-writers-desk gal?
Or, alternatively, we can talk about whether we really should pack a starting pistol in our luggage to make sure it doesn't get lost!
Hope to see your font.
