Comment by T. L. Curtis on July 21, 2012 at 9:40am Sorry for the late intro! I've self-published a novelette (Show Her) and a collection of poetry (Feign). I am currently working on 3 different novels at once (I'm kind of ADD when it comes to writing longer pieces). One is just a revision of something I had already written and I'm not sure if I'll keep the old title or not. The other two, however, are relatively new. One is called Drop Sane and the other is called Not There. Drop Sane is about murder and corruption surrounding a social worker who runs her own addiction treatment facility. Not There is about a group of schizophrenics who interact with beings from another dimension in order to save Earth from an invasion. I'm hoping to complete at least ONE of these by the end of the year and have it published. Thanks!

Comment by Audra Arelis on July 20, 2012 at 1:27pm Hello Everyone! Meg, thank you for inviting me to join this group. I really appreciate any and all good advice I can gather! Right now I am working on my first novel, I have been working on my character sketches, and the plot summary. Any advice for a newb?
My vacations are working vacations this summer. I plan to use my time off going to writer's conferences, writers workshops and hopefully one retreat.
My day job is stressing and then add taking care of my grandmother and my parents, getting away, even for a day of writing is a vacation.
Comment by Leigh Michael on July 18, 2012 at 5:41pm I'm actually taking a staycation next week as well. Pretty excited about it. My husband is getting his MBA and has to be in NYC for the summer (we live in DC). So figured I'd take a week off from work, head north to be with my husband, and write while he works.
My day job is a copywriter at an advertising firm, so sometimes it can be daunting to come home from writing all day and then sit down to work on my novel. I can only imagine the increased level of difficulty once kids are added to the mix one day.
But for now... I plan to thoroughly enjoy my staycation or perhaps I should refer to it as my NYCation. And hopefully got lots of writing done.
Good luck to everyone as they chip away at their novels word by word :)
Comment by Edith O Nuallain on July 18, 2012 at 2:37pm Yes holiday time with a family makes it very difficult to find time to write, or at least for the blocks of time I have during term time. Today my 2 eldest children moved out to live closer to the city and nearer their university. I miss them. But presumably the decibel level ought to drop a wee bit....wonder if I could send their 3 younger siblings in for a few days holidays??!! :-) x
Comment by Margaret Wacker on July 18, 2012 at 2:30pm What's a summer vacation? My kids seem to have more time to play, but that makes more work for me. I try to write as I have the time, wherever I am, on my desktop at home and my laptop elsewhere. Fortunately I have them linked through Dropbox. So, I can just keep going whenever I have the time.
