Comment by Mary Rowen on April 12, 2013 at 1:48pm Katherine, I've been wondering the same thing. I got a good Kirkus review for Living by Ear (which is self-pubbed), but I may soon begin to query my new novel to agents. Is this what you're also planning to do--query a new book--or are you going to query the self-pubbed book that got the good review? I definitely think if you're querying the self-pubbed book, you should use the review. If it's a different book, I have no idea, but would appreciate people's feedback. Thanks!
Comment by Deborah J. Brasket on April 12, 2013 at 1:40pm Jessican, so glad you enjoyed it, if "enjoy" is the word we can use here! It is an eye-opening.

Silent Voices: Four extraordinary people, young of blood, kind at heart, strong of will, but rash at actions...living in their own worlds, following isolated paths to their own goals...when the paths cross, the worlds shall crash...into a complex bonds of relationships...Because in a world where wants precede needs, only two can survive happily...
Comment by Catherine Stine on April 12, 2013 at 7:57am Kalthleen, I think it's certainly fine to make mention of it, and if it's stellar, you could consider the link. Indie authors need to sing their own praises and stand up for their strengths.
Comment by Jessica Vealitzek on April 12, 2013 at 7:42am Deborah, that was fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Comment by Kathleen Kern on April 12, 2013 at 6:52am Anyone know whether it's considered amateurish to include a link to a positive Kirkus Indie review of a self-published novel in a query letter?
Comment by Deborah J. Brasket on April 11, 2013 at 10:41am Just read this article and had to share. A revealing look at the literary trials of a female author. Makes you realize not much has changed in the last thirty years, and thankful that the rise of respectibility for self-publishing may help to free women writers (and men) from the worst practices of traditional publishing.

Comment by Edith O Nuallain on April 11, 2013 at 8:41am Tracey, I absolutely, positively and utterly LOVE your trailer. It is unique and inspiring and it makes me want to read your book now! Congratulations! xxx
Comment by Irene Miscione on April 11, 2013 at 8:33am Tracey, I just watched the trailer and found it to be very professionally done. It piqued my interest, and I'd like to purchase the book. You seemed natural and comfortable in front of the camera. I'm sure this comes from your many years as a therapist and interactions with others.
Tracey, I just watched your trailer. It's really good. I especially like the way you describe the book yourself. It's a very personal approach that makes a potential reader feel connected to the book already.
