Several writers have asked me why I attend writers' conferences and if I think they should. I give 5 reasons in my blog. Let me know what you think. http://www.paulapetty.com/pen-in-her-pocket.html.

Robert,

The only way to ensure you will fail is to give up!

Hello, fellow She Writers! I've been hiding out lately, working on submissions. I've also began my blog. Stop by when you have a chance!

Thanks.  As for multiple queries, heck yes!  Otherwise, the querying process could take years.

That's quite an inspiring story, Judith!!!

Meg, do you really query 10 or 20 agents at once? I always thought it rude to try 1/2 a dozen; but now with so many wanting email submissions, warning you that these could get stuck in spam filters, and that you won't hear from them again unless they really, really want you ...

I don't even know if there are 20 out there looking for my genres, and since each book I write is in a different genre, I tend to not try an agent who might not be interested in everything I've written. - I'm about ready to let go of this last qualification, though.

Only seven rejections? I got more than 200 before setting up my on publishing imprint, buying an ISBN and publishing through BookSurge (now CreateSpace).  Three months after the book was released, a movie producer contacted me and the book is now optioned for the big screen.  As my mother used to say, "There's more than one way to skin a cat!"  If you can't find a traditional publisher, DIY!  Good luck, Robert.

Robert,

I agree with Meg. Don't give up!!! I waited 5 years until a publisher wanted my book. Then I found one of the best publishers ever and it is going to be an e-book in September. In a year it will be in print, but I don't care how it gets published. Someone wanted it and this is such a great company. I am thrilled. You have to keep sending out your work if you believe in it!!! I was lucky to have found a friend for a publisher too. You will get it accepted. Don't give up. I got 7 rejections and that isn't even a round number. Lots of authors got tons of rejections and then they got accepted. It will happen. You have to believe it will.:)
