I'm so frustrated today. I feel like I'm "so" close after multiple revisions, test readers, editing, etc. I'm working on the linchpin chapter, and I just can't seem to get the sequencing right. I've gone back and forth, deleting, adding back, moving scenes around, deciding I was right the first time. I know I have to be patient, but I feel like if I could just get over this hurdle, the rest is in place. I know it's wishful thinking (as in, if I could just lose 5 pounds). Has anyone else had this experience? How do you keep moving through it and not get bogged down?

Looking forward to it, as that is exactly what I am doing now!

We're changing the formal novelist group chats to once each month on the first Wednesday of the month, at the 1EST we've been doing. This month's meeting will be tomorrow, and we'll discuss Tips for Self-Editing. Please come share yours!

And feel free to gather informally on other Wednesdays, of course.

Just coming up for air as my novel Tributary—an unvarnished portrait of 1870s Mormon Utah—launches tomorrow! Here's my newest guest blog about the novel, about on shamanism in the West, for Spiritual Media Blog.

Hi, Leigh!  And welcome.  I love the feedback and insight I get from the other writers on this post.  I think you're going to like it.
Amy...I really like the title of your blog.  I think it will make a great book title.  Going to check it out, now.  :)

Thanks so much, everyone. Your moral support means a lot to me. And Amy, NO, never give up! Hard work and being stubborn is the way to go. LOL Good luck, everyone!

Wow, amazing things from amazing women!!  Reading all of these comments gives me the desire to NOT GIVE UP.  My novel is based a lot on my blog posts at

http://www.exwifenewlife.com  This has been what inspires me to keep writing as well.

How much time do you spend choosing your characters' names?  Here are some tips.
