I recently had my first novel published and must admit that while there isn't anything artistically wrong with the cover I just don't feel like it properly sells the story. The cover is for an…Continue

Comment by Deborah J. Brasket on May 6, 2013 at 10:32pm Laura, so glad you shared that link to interview with Claire Messud. I'd been wanting to read her newest book, and now for sure I am. I agree with her that some of the most interesting characters are not likeable at all, but they are real, and often raw, can challenge us to think, and feel, and question more deeply. Kafka's "ice pick," after all, what he says a good book must be, is not so "likeable" but urgent and vital.

Comment by Syeda Tasmia Tahia on May 5, 2013 at 1:19pm Hello Ladies. Anyone here have a moment (or a few, actually) to spare? I am looking some feedback on the 10th chapter of my YA Silent Voices. It is written from a omniscient third-person narrative, focusing on one or two of the for MCs feelings (or silenced voices) in each chapter
I am slightly worried about the pace of things in my writing...the story takes place between September to March ( around 6 months), but I seem to be bogged down in specific scenes so far. Although I do have a few leaps in the middle, but it still seems to have taken a sluggish pace. Any advice?
Comment by Lexa Cain on May 3, 2013 at 5:37am Sorry for your health problems, Zoe. I wish you a quick recovery!
Comment by Zoe Brooks on May 3, 2013 at 2:03am I am currently in a Czech hospital after an emergency operation, which is why I have been so quiet/silent over the last four weeks. But I'm on the mend now, so hopefully I will be online more soon.
