NYWC Write-A-Thon 2013, Saturday, Sept. 21

Hi everybody! Welcome to the She Writes group for SW participants in the New York Writers Coalition's annual Write Your A** Off Write-a-Thon, where writers pledge to WRITE ALL DAY and ask the people in their lives to support their dedication by contributing to a very worthy cause.

To sign up: go to the NYWC First Giving Page and click join, then be sure to join TEAM SHE WRITES when you register. (This allows us to track all our member's donations.)  We are also really excited, and honored, that NYWC has created prizes JUST for She Writers...

She Writes Write-a-Thon Prizes

*Awarded to the top fundraisers (She Writes Team members) at the end of the Write-a-Thon.

HOW IT WORKS: 1st place winner will get to choose one of the three prizes; then 2nd place fundraiser will choose between the two remaining prizes; 3rd place fundraiser will receive the remaining prize. All She Writes fundraisers will also be in the running for all other Write-a-Thon prizes listed here.

  • (1) Akashic Books library of women authors. Titles included: A Mind of Winter by Shira Nayman; Wingshooters by Nina Revoyr;  The Mercury Fountain by Eliza Factor; and an autographed copy of Gathering of Waters by Bernice L. McFadden.
  • (1) Official 2013 Write Your A** Off tote bag stuffed with a notebook, a Write-a-Thon pen, a CreateSpace pen, a copy of NYWC's Kingsbridge to Canarsie: Reflections  by Eight NYC Girls, information about NYWC's writing workshops, discount vouchers to two plays (Unbroken Circle and The Accidental Pervert), and a free, 3-day trial membership to The Writers Room.
  • (1) 1-hour manuscript critique/consultation with author and NY Writers Coalition Founder/Executive Director Aaron Zimmerman. PARAMETERS: May be redeemed in person in New York City or by telephone/Skype. The winner may use the time to receive feedback on a specific project (up to 20 pages of prose or 5 pages of poetry sent in advance) or guidance towards enriching her writing life. Aaron Zimmerman has led hundreds of these conferences and helped writers establish work plans, uncover and move past blocks, and revise work. Read more about Aaron's experience here.

Please join this group so you can participate on Saturday, September 21st. I will be live blogging from the Write-A-Thon in discussion threads here that day, and sharing writing prompts and encouragement.
