"The average self-publisher sells 100 books. Or is it 200? And is that in a year? Or is it over the lifetime of the book? The problem is, we have no idea at all, no way of measuring how we are…Continue

Comment by Kate Barker on January 25, 2012 at 10:16pm Thanks for posting on my wall and inviting me to the group. Look forward to what everyone has to say. Is there anyone from Australia in this group?
Comment by Susan Bearman on January 23, 2012 at 5:24pm I'm a Mac girl myself, but the Fire was a gift and I must say, I'm loving it. A few odd quirks yet, but I found that with the iPad, too. It takes a bit for me to immerse myself in an app based platform. I'm just so used to my computer and keyboard. Wish the Fire used Swype. I heard it's cool.
Comment by Meg Waite Clayton on January 23, 2012 at 5:21pm I'm holding out for the iPad 3, I think. Not sure I will read books on it, but I suppose we'll see.
Comment by Susan Bearman on January 23, 2012 at 5:18pm @Meg, interesting, but not surprising when I think of how many people I know (including me and my new Kindle Fire) who got one for the Holidays. This was the big gift of the year.
Comment by Meg Waite Clayton on January 23, 2012 at 5:15pm Heard on NPR this morning that tablet ownership basically doubled in the last month. Yikes!
Comment by Valerie Brooks on December 28, 2011 at 4:40pm From this article: "We are not only in a digital age but also and importantly we are now entering a golden age for writing."
What do you think?

Comment by Meg Waite Clayton on December 27, 2011 at 8:42am Thanks for that link, Shawn. Really interesting to watch this unfold.
And Scotland! That is tempting!
Comment by Zetta Brown on December 20, 2011 at 8:22am Just an FYI in addition to the residency Julia mentioned and those interested in studying in Scotland, but there's a publishing program available at Edinburgh Napier University that covers journalism, publishing, and creative writing.
It's a fairly new program (2009) and the only one of its kind in the UK. We posted an article on our blog about it when it first started. Check it out here.
Comment by Shawn Lamb on December 20, 2011 at 5:04am Welcome, Valerie. It's good to keep on top of things - or at least informed. :)
