Comment by Emiliana Martín on June 15, 2012 at 6:38pm I've been a writer since I could hold a writing instrument in my hand. I used to write notes to my parents asking them to stop arguing, forgive me, go to McDonald's for dinner, all sorts of stuff. I escalated when I got my Journalism Reporting and Editing degree then switched post-grad gears and went into public relations. I thought I wanted to be a member of the White House press corps until my Dow Jones copy editing internship at the Fresno Bee where I figured out I didn't want an electronic leash, i.e., pager, that would require me to drop what I was doing to report on a breaking news story. Over the last 10 years, I've learned that I am an incest survivor. I have PTSD and major depression. My natural inclination was to journal about what was going on inside my head. Then I heard about blogging. I felt very strongly it was time to tell my story and so I do. Plans are to publish those blog posts in a book and also write a memoir and a screenplay memoir. I love the written word and expressing myself through it. I hope my story helps those either in my shoes or on their way. It's never too late. After all, Colonel Sanders got his start at age 65. I have plenty of time ... sorta.
The name of this group definitely speaks to me. I'm presently busy at inventing the second stage of my life. My blog gave me a jump start and now I'm creating work that I've finally gotten up the nerve to submit places and actually contemplating writing an entire book (a book?!) So, yes, reinvention is the word of the day.

Thought about it, blogged about it. What else is new. http://recoveringdawn.blogspot.com

Comment by Dawn Nickel on February 9, 2011 at 11:53am Finally feel qualifed to start showing up for real on SheWrites. I started a new blog, and I have blogged every day for two weeks, and am loving it. I like being 50 most of the time, and enjoy writing my way into self-discovery. I would trade either of my two present careers to be a full-time writer. One day.
