Self-Publishers Anonymous

Self-Publishers Anonymous

A support and informational group for people who are currently, who have in the past, or who plan to self-publish.  The aims of the group will be to swap information on all aspects of self-publishing from good editors and cover artists you've used in the past and how to make your own book trailer to swapping services (like editing) to help reduce the heavy financial burden of self-publishing.

I am very upset at what I am seeing. I don't understand what's going on. I self-published a book in my prior name, Lucille Rains, called "Ya Wanna Laugh?" I didn't have the money to advertise, so I closed my account with the publisher and let it lapse into oblivion. Originally about $14 on, I checked that site, and my book is still listed (by a 3rd party, they said) and it's now $44.59. I just checked Thriftbooks, and it's over $48. What's going on? and who's getting the royalties and who would spend that kind of money for that book?

Hi all,

I am new to SheWrites and just trying to figure out my way around.  I've played around with self-publishing for the past few months but really want to focus on it this year.  I am editing a novella ready to format and upload by the end of the month, hopefully.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!  Happy new year :)

Hi everyone,

Just joined SheWrites. I write for children and YA and independently published two novels over the last two years. I was thrilled to find this group here and hope to meet people who share the exciting and dauting self-published journey

Wendy, no you don't need a copyright.  This was something I worried about myself.  I generally recommend going to an editor after beta readers see it.

Hi! I am Wendy Thomas. I write short stories. I am at the point where I want to take the next steps with my writing and self publish. I need readers, publishers, the works. It all feels overwhelming. Do you need to have your copyright before you use beta readers? At what point dose it need to go to an editor?

I am Ariel Rosetti, and self published several times over. I am looking for a new publisher at the present time, one who will offer all of the perks to help me present a spectacular novel. I want the book to be in several foreign languages and in hardcover.
