I've created a book trailer for my new book that just went for sale on Kindle, and while it is posted on both my website and You Tube, I'm just wondering if there is more I can be doing with it. For any of you that have book trailers - how are you using them? What seems to be most effective? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Karen,
A book I've edited has a book trailer, too...aside from announcing it on Facebook and Twitter, I've also used it to better explain our book to bookstores and members of the press. I figure it gives them an idea of what the book's about while they wait for their review copy to appear.

I, too, would love to hear about other ways of using this new tool!
Hi Karen,

I created a book trailer using Animoto that I placed on my blog, my Facebook fan page and on Youtube. I've been using it to help promote the book by sharing the link with my friends and contacts. I've received good feedback, though I'm not sure if it's necessarily driving sales. Right now I'm looking at it as one more tool to use to describe what the book is about.
I have a book trailer for each of my books coming out soon. I have them on my blogs. I enter them in competitions as I find them as well. There has to be a way get more views. I see some of the mainstream trailers having thousands of views. I'm sure if we had a trailer that garnered 100k views that would have to equate to at least 10k sales, right?
Karen,

Congrats on the book and trailer! I recently created a book trailer for my children's book, The Bug That Plagued the Entire Third Grade, and although the views are low on YouTube, I've found the most success posting to other sites like Teacher's Tube and Ning groups.

Just post it wherever you can include videos--MySpace, Facebook, etc...

I know the overall opinion is that book trailers generally don't sell books, but we need to try everything we can, so GOOD LUCK!!

All the best,
Lori

Could everyone provide the site/place where we can see the book trailers? I would like to see them : )

Karen that's a good question. My book trailer just became published and I, too, have put it on my blogs, and FB. I'm working to put it on more of the sharing sites. I'd like to know what others are doing also. How are you coming along with it since posting here?
I did find one site: Blazing Trailers, that will post your book trailer. It's a pretty cool site -- one I think worth checking out. I can't say it's added to my sales -- that's too hard to track, but I figure anything out there promoting the book is good.

I've started posting trailers on my own blog on Fridays, so if anyone here wants me to post theirs, email me with the You Tube link: kcanwtell02@comcast.net. Here's the blog if you want to check it out: Fiction For Dessert.
Hi Karen,

I tried to email you my trailer but the email bounced back. Is that the correct email addy?
Headwind's trailer is on the home page of my website as well as on Youtube. Just getting started with this and looking for any ideas anybody else has. Great topic, Karen.
I've started a monthly book trailer contest at my website. The winner gets a feature interview at my blog. Check it out:

Hi,
I have a trailer for my latest book too. Along with FaceBook and YouTube, I was able to add it to my signature in gmail. Whenever I send anybody an email it goes with link to the site and a mini-YouTube display. The receiver can click on the video and play it right in their email.

It's kinda cool. :-)
