I take a deep breath as I write this because I know there is a risk associated with stating clearly what one believes and, alternately, what one does not believe. Even in this age of tolerance, standing up and saying I'm a 'God Girl' might be met by resistance, or disdain. Even so, I'm going to say this clearly for all to hear.

I believe, I build my life upon, this truth; that there is one God, creator of the heavens and the earth, who is real, alive, with me, for me, and who desires (above all else) to have a day to day, up close and personal, relationship with every one of us.

My life bears testimony to the presence of and power of God within it. All I will ever have to share, is what God has done, and is doing, in my one and only life.

When I say 'spiritual', I mean 'of the spirit'… the Holy Spirit… one of the three persons in the Holy Trinity that is God, Son and Spirit. Anything that I write of a 'spiritual' nature pertains to that.

My 'inspiration' is what God reveals to me through the world around me, his creation, my relationships, the truth of his word - the Bible, and my continuing desire to seek out what God would have me do and say in my writing and in my poetry.

I invite you to read 'The Shack', by William P. Young, if you are in a place of questioning who God really is. It might just change your mind, or allow you to consider the possibility.

Just wanted you to know who I am.

I believe in a pluralistic society, certainly. As you yourself have written, I know that the beauty of the things I have crafted shows clear influence of a Divine hand. I know that without the Light, what I write lacks the same ability to inspire.

I mourn for the people who have been wounded by organized religion, yet often am annoyed those who assume that all religious/spiritual people believe the same things. Or who believe that all religions are intrinsically rotten. We often seem to need something to criticize or some means to project our own fears and anxieties onto something convenient. Organized religion is far too often that conduit. The question I'd ask is why we have that compulsion in the first place, and whether the target is the correct one.
I consider myself a "God Chick" and I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Your courage to stand up for your faith is commendable because you just became a light shining in the darkness. I, too, want to let my light shine before man. It is isn't easy in a secular world to be who we were ordained to be and to follow the Great Commission. I hope that you live it out each day in your word, actions, and writing. God Bless.
:) thanks for writing Kathy… look forward to connecting here at Shewrites.
Hi Lesley-Ann, I'm a God girl too. So good to find your post and discover others here who are as well!

Look forward to getting to know you, Cindee. :)
I've read it. I loved the book. I was a little disappointed when I discovered it didn't really happen that way. Of course I was incredibly relieved that the murder wasn't true but I somehow wanted the encounters to be real. That would be really amazing but still it helped me gain a new perspective. Thanks for sharing so boldly.
I hope you will continue to take more risks to speak the truth because, truth overcomes lies, just as light overcomes darkness.

It is truly unfortunate that the ones who cry out for tolerance are intolerant.

Lesley-Anne,

Greetings! Lesley-Anne I can So relate to what you wrote, "I take a deep breath as I write this because I know there is a risk associated with stating clearly what one believes."

How can anything I write not be tampered by me wondering, is my Mom going to read this, is my neighbor going to read this?I don't believe exactly the way they do, always I am asking myself, how do I bridge our beliefs.

I think it is this risk that you speak of Lesley that we always have in the back of our minds of not wanting to stamp on toes or be rejected immediately because of differences which makes spiritual writing a unique challange.

So may we both write with boldness!  Thanks for your response and understanding Trendle. And Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Hi Lesley Anne,

It took a while for me to admit that I like writing about my faith as well.  I faced a bit of hesitation on what kind of writer I really wanted to be.  I think I like a lot of things from the classics to the contemporary.  But nothing has moved me so much than to write about Christ.  So, thank you for being here and for being bold as to putting this out there for people like me to find.

Blessings,

Kathy

You are more than welcome, Kathy. I look forward to reading the words you post here at Shewrites, and am happy to make your acquaintance, and to find another 'sister'. YEAH!
