Virtual Critique Group

Critiques when you need them!

Location: #Workshop
Members: 266
Latest Activity: May 6

I've never had much success with writing groups. Too many people, not enough time to do a proper job of it, too many broad subject ranges, HAVING to present something to the group, ready or not. Just never really worked for me.
But what if we had a place where we could request critiques as we need them and volunteer to critique for others as they need?

Please introduce yourself and tell us what areas you're interested in critiquing, and when you need something read, look through the group and see who's interested in your subject matter!

I know we're all busy, but if we all make a little time here and there to help each other, we'll all benefit from it. If you have other friends in She Writes who would be interested in participating, please invite them to join!

I'm relatively new (think I started last week), so thank you, Greta!

Hi Diane, Tessa and Pauline! I'm not sure if Tessa is new, but if she is welcome to all of you...I love this group. I've critiqued for a few people here from a few pages to short stories and even full novels. I am working on my first YA novel and I love just about any of its sub-genres...but I'm always game for new things. Pauline...I might check out your website...having a pro help through the rough spots and get support is always a good thing!

Hi,
I'm also new to the group. Working on a first novel, co-written with a friend. We are in various stages of rewriting parts and editing others. It goes on forever, as you all know. Happy to be part of this group.

I'm willing to critique first 10 pages. I'm just a writer, but I've read a lot in my genre. My main interests are young adult fantasy/paranormal, but I'm sure I could critique other things as well.

Hi Everyone
I don't know how I missed this group. I'm delighted to be able to join you all.
The First 10 Page critique is a great idea. Although I've been a professional creative writing coach for ten years, I'm as lacking in confidence with my own writing as anyone else!
Looking forward to learning and sharing.

HI Greta,

That is so nice of you... I am working on editing my novel that I wrote during National Novel Writing Month in 2008, which took more than a month, but the editing is the hard part. When I get a bit more done, I will take you up on your offer, plus feel free to let me know if you need/want me to look at anything.

Thanks.

Hi Lori...

Welcome to the group..as I said to Laura earlier, this is a great group to be part of. Everyone is always willing to help and cheer you on. I am currently writing a YA romantic suspense. Anytime you need a read through or a critique...give a shout out...good luck with the rewrites and the second novel!

Hello everyone! I'm new here and thought I'd pop in to say hi! My first manuscript is a 67k word YA romance. I've sent out several queries and gotten a few nibbles. One pretty serious tug -- she suggested a few changes which I am in the process of working on right now.

I've also started writing my second -- another YA, this time a paranormal romance/YA. I'm only about 20k words into that and have put it on hold for the time being so I can focus on the re-write of the first one. :)

Anyway, my hobbies are reading, writing, and running. I live in MO.
