Critiques when you need them!

Location: #Workshop
Members: 266
Latest Activity: May 6

I've never had much success with writing groups. Too many people, not enough time to do a proper job of it, too many broad subject ranges, HAVING to present something to the group, ready or not. Just never really worked for me.
But what if we had a place where we could request critiques as we need them and volunteer to critique for others as they need?

Please introduce yourself and tell us what areas you're interested in critiquing, and when you need something read, look through the group and see who's interested in your subject matter!

I know we're all busy, but if we all make a little time here and there to help each other, we'll all benefit from it. If you have other friends in She Writes who would be interested in participating, please invite them to join!

Hi all,

I am looking for a short story buddy.  My latest group is great, but everyone seems to be writing novels and other genres than short fiction.  I'd love to trade.  :)

Novel Idea! Trading Feedback, Moving Forward

Working on chapters of my novel and hoping to periodically shout out for feedback. The novel takes place in a 1970s small town.  It follows a young girl's search for her mother's love and approval and the revelation of a new trend wreaking havoc (diet pills). Please let me know if you are interested!

I have a WIP and would love to exchange useful suggestions.  My novel is a fictional story about a young girl's relationship with a bipolar mother.  If you are interested in talking some more, wonderful.

Thanks!

Hello, I write historical fiction.  My first manuscript is set in the Late Bronze Age. I am willing to trade feedback with other historical fiction writers.

Hello Ladies,

This is just to remind you that you have under 2 months to submit your stories to The Fine Line Short Story Competition, the details of which are below:

The Fine Line’s inaugural short story competition is now open for entries. Whatever your taste, style or inspiration, submit your tale and you could win £200 ($320/€230) and publication in The Fine Line Short Story Collection.

A percentage of all entry fees goes to charity so you’ll be doing good while getting your work out there.

Deadline: 31st of May

To read on and enter, go to http://shop.editorial-consultancy.co.uk/shortstorycompetition/

Good luck!

Kate

PS Sorry if you've read this message more than once - I participate in quite a lot of groups and thought I'd let everyone who might be interested know about the competition.

I posted about a month ago, but still looking for someone to provide honest feedback on my WIP. I'm about 66,000 words in. I belong to a couple of local writing groups, but given our meeting schedules, it would likely take two years to get my entire mss critiqued. I've classified it as commercial women's fiction, but at least one reader suggested it could be YA, though the characters are in their their mid-twenties.It has a romance as a major plot line, but doesn't really fit into any of the traditional romance categories. Not chick lit. Would love to exchange pages (I have about 50,000 words ready to be critiqued), but I wouldn't be much help with sci-fi, fantasy, experimental, poetry or erotica. Anyone interested?

Hello everyone, thanks for inviting me in.

Would anyone be willing to critique a few chapters of my memoir?  The story follows the life of a Cockney girl and her struggle to find love and acceptance in the cruel world of life on the lowest rung of the British class system and as an evacuee in World War 2. Although full of heartache, it is punctuated throughout by the ever present Cockney humour.  More info upon request .  You can email me direct at irissimantel@yahoo.com if so desired. Thank you.

Erica, Thank you so much for the critique of my first four chapters. It was extremely helpful.

I am intereseted in exchanging chapters with someone, in the genre of literary fiction, more or less mainstream. Not much good with erotica, memoir or others.

I have a draft more or less, some of it is pretty rough but we can do chapter by chapter.  Anyone? I can add bio notes if you'd like.
