Critiques when you need them!

I've never had much success with writing groups. Too many people, not enough time to do a proper job of it, too many broad subject ranges, HAVING to present something to the group, ready or not. Just never really worked for me.
But what if we had a place where we could request critiques as we need them and volunteer to critique for others as they need?

Please introduce yourself and tell us what areas you're interested in critiquing, and when you need something read, look through the group and see who's interested in your subject matter!

I know we're all busy, but if we all make a little time here and there to help each other, we'll all benefit from it. If you have other friends in She Writes who would be interested in participating, please invite them to join!

Hi everyone. I've been writing forever and have been in some writing groups but live in a really rural area at the moment. I have read at the local coffe shop and the 20 somethings liked me. I am getting some things published in online forms. It's great but I still am not getting feedback. I'd really like some comments. I'm also working on my second novel but that won't be ready for reading for another month or two. See my most current at A Long Story Short in Non fiction.

One thing I've learned so far is that you have to be willing to cut your favorites whether it be a scene, a bit of dialog, or an entire plot point if it doesn't move the story forward. I'm also learning about "beats" in scenes, which will help me in adapting my first novel for the screen. More to come...

Judith that would be wonderful! I'd love to hear about it.

I'm having my second novel edited by a professional and I'm learning a lot about critiquing. When I'm finished revising, I'll be happy to share what I've learned,

Hello. I'm a high school English teacher who never wanted to write...until now. I've taken some online courses and also at the University of Iowa. My leaning is toward children's stories and essays. I would love to have someone critique my work. I think it's good, but another pair of eyes doesn't hurt. I'm happy to reverse the role as well.

I am happy to read any fiction. I am unpublished in fiction, but do have some experience writing for magazines...
I've got 2 unfinished novels, and I'd love any concrete feedback on either/both of them.

I need someone to walk through my first 5 chapters and give me a fresh eye to them. Anyone willing? The story is a Christian Contemporary with a hint of suspense. It is completed.
Thanks! You can email me at steenah@telus.net

Hi, I'm a bit of a late starter in terms of fiction but I've published academic work in peer reviewed journals and there was a co-edited book in the dim and distant past so I might be a bit of use to somebody here. You'll be a LOT of use to me though, I think!

Hello everyone, I'm new here.

I'm currently working on a historical fiction novel set during the Crusades. I'm willing and eager to critique any kind of fiction at all (except for: sci-fi, horror, and erotica), and am looking for people interested in critiquing my work. Don't worry, I don't bite at all. I'm not a tear-the-work-to-shreds critiquer. I always point out what I think is working well in the piece I'm critiquing as well as what I think could be improved (with examples of how to improve), so I usually expect the same from anyone critiquing my work.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better!
