Virtual Writers Critique Group

Information

Virtual Writers Critique Group

Reviews can be critical for a writer, yet hard to come by for those unable to participate in a local group. This group was founded to provide all SheWrites members with access to feedback no matter where they might call home.

At this time, the Virtual Writers Critique Group is transitioning to a new format. While we continue to have a presence here at our SheWrites home, manuscript submissions and critiques are now being undertaken at our new Yahoo! Group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/virtualwriterscritique/

After Saturday, July 2nd, this group will become an open group. Prior to that, all content will be removed. If you would like to save any files or commentary on the site now, please be sure to do so as quickly as possibly.

Let me try that URL again, Valorie.  Discussion has moved over there because the files here were unwieldy.

Hi, all,

I would love to hear feedback from folk about my feedback. i want to make sure I'm giving it in a way that is helpful and productive. Hard to tell without being able to see someone's face and read their body language, no? Sara Selznick

Shah, what are you having trouble with? Is the site not letting you participate? You're membership is active; you can post by either emailing virtualwriterscritique@yahoogroups.com or by visiting the site at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/virtualwriterscritique/ - and if you want to upload a file, you can do that by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/virtualwriterscritique/files/

If those aren't working, please let me know!

I spent ages trying to sort this all out yesterday and today and I give up.

If anyone wants to continue recieving my critiques (and returning them), I'll be available at shahwharton@gmail.com

Shame - I loved this group. I got so much out of having critiquing partners - a valuable new experience. Shah. X

Fwiw, if I'm remembering correctly, a person doesn't have to establish a Yahoo account in order to be added directly by the list administrator.  On another list, I think I've done that for a couple of people without Yahoo accounts.

Of course, that doesn't change the differences between interacting on the two platforms.   :(

Anne Liu replied to the discussion 'Where to Begin...' in the group Your First Novel
"Welcome to the fun! I think the great thing about being at the beginning of your first draft is that the first draft DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GOOD.  It just has to get written.  Finishing even a crappy first draft is a huge accomplishment, so…"
